Default Cafe interior project

The original Miami Vice era white cloth cabin interior was already seen better days after all these years, before then sitting outside on a rack for the year and a half it took to get my motors sorted. I did flood the walkway with a garden hose and didnt see any leaks inside from the drainhole above, cant figure how else it got this wet around the liquor bottle panel, maybe dripping condensation? Anyways the last thing i wanted to deal with right now was a cabin project, i've still got other stuff to sort with the boat before summer kicks off, working crazy hours right now, and no budget left for a proper upholstery job. But its now gotten to past "tolerable until i can deal with it next year" so somethings got to be done. Better not to think about it, just bite the bullet and start ripping stuff out. I was just going to deal with the worst spots, but some posts here on OSO gave me the courage to just keep ripping, so we'll see how it goes.

No going back now

Carter's red cafe rebuild with the black alcantara interior had that on my want list for a future interior redo, then I read here on OSO that you can buy ultrasuede remnants leftover from furniture factories on Ebay highly discounted (retail is $125/yard!). Got 7 yards of marine grey for $200. The stuff to search for is Toray Ambiance HP, you can google the color chart on Toray's site as its hard to tell exact shades from the pictures on ebay. This stuff is fantastic. I recommend the seller Pestycat on Ebay, she's got a good selection and is very responsive with questions and requests.

Started unwrapping and cutting some panels. At this point not sure how im going to get them sewn, entertained the thought of doing it myself but really dont have time to learn and dont want to half-ass it which would be the inevitable result. Put out a gig posting on craigslist and got a few replies, spoke to a few of them, and found a lady that will do them with me together for a very reasonable price. I took everything to her place and pulled the staples, unthreaded the panels, traced and cut new pieces from ultrasuede, while she sewed them up, and i stapled em back together. Its not fineline but im quite happy with the results. Thats one long day.
Did some more pieces tonight with the lady and figured we dont have enough to do everything. There's no more of that exact "marine grey" on ebay, so we figure with a little shuffling and recycling of material we can do everything but these areas which will hopefully look good as an accent stripe. I Just ordered what some blue ultrasuede. Fingers crossed matches well.
Any opinions on where the accent color should run on the facing seat side to best match?

The blue fabric is on its way so the upholstery part is on pause for a bit, so now i can get back to other little projects i've started since getting her back.

Good Luck - mines getting pretty grimey down there too, but until the kids grow up and quit spilling Capri Suns, Sunny Delight, CheezIt's etc...... I think I'm going to wait a couple years on the downstairs.......

Are you the white cafe that runs down on the Potomac? I think we chatted a couple years back.

Made a lot of progress. Got all the wall carpets replaced. These last days been test fitting all the cushions and pretty happy with the results. Lucky for me the lady i was working with was willing to do it repeatedly until we got the fitment right, as she wants to start doing more of this work. Total budget for the upholstery including all the ultrasuede, her sewing, and a lot of my time: Just under $1000.

I'll take some proper pictures once all the projects are done and i can give a good cleaning.

The cabin needed a few more cup holders. They were a b1tch to drill out!

That hand rest tends to get a lot of grubby (sunscreened up) hand prints, while inebriated guests often use it to pour their drinks and spill. I found these bigger Amarket Marine which im hoping will discourage the hand prints while countering some of the spills

So i was eyeing that spagheti matt flooring for awhile it doesnt get wet and keeps clean as sand and dirt just falls through it. Cut new pieces from my original carpets but now i wish i had cut them from a new template so i could make em tighter. Thinking about making another set so if anyone wants this for their cafe PM me.

should work especially well in my anchor locker which always ends up full of sand and grime getting all over fenders and dock lines (yeah i need to get new ones hehe).
