It’s going to be a 3-4 year project with my 11 year old son, hopefully he’ll learn some things along the way. It’s headed to T and D custom paint for a full paint job in the next couple weeks. It’s going to have a lot of burnt orange and silver like my 39. I’ll update it as it goes. Thanks again for posting.
No problem Jbraun. Feel free to email more pics if need be. Looking forward to following this project, love these lil 20's. You have an idea of power/drive combo yet?

NICE! You're really taking this back to better than new. Following.....

Plans on those bucket seats? I've been looking to replace the ones in my Cig 20 with something from the period. Paint & new interior is my next project.

I swapped from the original SBC, trans & TRS drives to a Merc 383 Mag Stroker with Bravo outdrive. The less weight in the ass end did amazing for the ride and overall handling. Went from low 50's to mid 60's at WOT. Next step is to slap on a -2 Imco shorty that I picked up some time ago.

I like the fact that your involving your son in this 3 to 4 year process ....What a great opportunity for father and son bonding!

thanks Derek, I’ve read your thread multiple times. You did a great job on yours, eventually I may need to pick your brain.

not a 100 percent sure on the interior yet but I may end up getting bucket seats. A buddy is working on building a mold to make some for other projects so I may get a pair from him if they work out. If so you could for sure take my original seats, they’re actually in really good condition.
As far as power, I have an all aluminum 400 small block that I think would be perfect for this boat. It was my father in laws and it’s been sitting on a shelf for 20 years and needs to be gone through obviously. I would be more than happy if we could get 450-500 hp out of it. Back in the day he had it in a 18 ft checkmate and it ran almost 90. I want to use a ITS box on the transom so I’ll probably use a xr drive.

I have a 1978 20ft cigarette boat hull to 111 and have a friend with hull 99 both boats are 1978. What is your VIN number? I'm thinking of doing a restoration mod with big block ,ITS , XR with 2" sport master lower. I might be interested in your old interior to for patterns for my boat. Thanks
