Mild Thunder Cam's LLC......................good job guys

payuppsucker 11-26-2019 12:30 PM

Nicely done guys!!!

I'm glad that piece if paper didn't make it into the throttle bodies.

abones 11-26-2019 01:29 PM

Great job guy's, love to watch dyno pulls! How much boost at 6K? Dan what is the CID of your engines?

I must be the only guy not happy with making more power , I was hoping for less TQ so I wouldn`t have to pull the other drive guardian.lol

I had the drive guardians recalibrated to 925-950tq and now that I`m making almost 900tq it makes sense why I burned one up.

Going to attempt to pull the other one in the boat so that should be fun.

Setting them up for 1000tq .

Do they recommend tuning that close to your engine torque? I’m surprised the margin isn’t higher.

Do you have timing control now? You could pull some in the middle.

No it`s too close, that's what I`m saying I have to take em out and get then recalibrated to 1000tq, I based the calibration on 826tq which was the last tune up.

Holley HP has full timing control . Wouldn`t be good to lower the timing to possibly send the EGTs thru the roof thou .

Something that gets forgotten quite often is dyno pulls are done at wot. When cruising at 3500-4000 rpm your not at wot. So the numbers shown are not valid when cruising. Steady state tuning is very different than the power pulls.

underpsi68 11-26-2019 07:31 PM

Nice numbers!!

What a/f are you running?

payuppsucker 11-27-2019 07:56 AM

So Dan, did y'all have to tweak the tune or is this what Alex sent you?

ICDEDPPL 11-27-2019 09:09 AM

I think Alex said that tune was for a whipple deal so I added timing up high and fattened it up a bit more.
Most of the work was on the idle . That was a ***** , 2 days worth of tuning to get it to transition right between in/out of gear but at the end of that it idles like a dream at 850rpm and 13.5afrs . I had it out in 46* weather and she`d go in gear without dying with very little warm up.
I`m running it in closed loop with compensation capped at 15% in case the 02 takes a dump. so far so good .

THE flattest torque curve I’ve ever seen!

836 @ 3100, max of 893 @ 4500 and still pulling 833 @ 6100?
Yikes!

That’s a 60 ft lb spread over 3K R’s ????

I especially like the 848 @ 3500 😳

Again I say...., YIKES!

Congrats dude. That’s damned impressive.

Those big belt driven artificial lungs on top of the engine do this. Pretty insane and thus why still preferred in some applications.

It`s pretty significant no doubt about that , I think in a few years time the swap will pay for itself in fuel savings alone.
I came home from LOTO with a lot more fuel in the boat that then I wanted because I filled up with that carb mindset :D

Full Force 12-06-2019 04:42 AM

Bad ass, I told ya the TQ would be insane haha I love it and the boat runs so bad ass..

MILD THUNDER 01-07-2020 06:27 PM

Glad the cam choice worked out . I was waiting for the phone call that dyno day, saying something like "your junk cam made less power than my old 651 you jerk"

This cam is the HUC series lobe family. Similar ramps to the Marine lobes from comp, but supposedly more stable. Designed for bbc engines, not LS engines or small blocks.

Great job on the engines and rigging Dan. Boat is running strong now!! Mid 90s on flat water, with a full cabin non kevlar old flatdeck cig is moving out!

Rhythm and Blues 01-07-2020 08:28 PM

Super sick cruise numbers too! You’ll be able to ride around all day in your sweet spot and still fell like your doin somethin! Nice Dan..

Panther 01-15-2020 03:20 PM

Congratulations! Definitely a lot of fun working with EFI and making monster motors seem like 500EFI's. lol

I haven't had any experience with the Sniper Stealth system yet, only the Dominator and HP systems but it looks to be about the same. But I'm gonna find out since I'm doing a Sniper Stealth 4500 setup with AFR's for a customer with twin engines this spring.

Enjoy!

hogie roll 01-15-2020 05:39 PM

When is the sea trial?

ICDEDPPL 01-17-2020 11:58 AM

I`ve had it out last year .. on a river for tuning and then in LOTO for a long weekend .

It has a decent amount of lift, what’s the valvetrain like?

ICDEDPPL 01-17-2020 06:04 PM

You`re asking Joe about what my valvetrain ?
Okay we`ll wait for him to figure it out I guess. :cool-smiley-011:

What a great job! I ran across this thread earlier today and couldn’t figure out how I had missed it then I looked at the dates and it was during the time I had moved. Regardless “A1”. Can’t imagine the sleepless nights involved.

MT did well also!!! What heads do you have? I can’t remember. It was probably never discussed but wonder what rpm peak torque and hp would’ve been in NA build. 6k???

Again great job and wanted to give you a thumbs up 👍!

ICDEDPPL 02-13-2021 02:46 PM

Thanx Dunn, I have Iron Eagle 345 dart heads with combustion chamber work. Like those heads
