Couple years ago we watched a guy launch one at our raft up, flew up in the air about 200 feet immediately plunged into the water and he then spent about an hour looking for it. Looked like fun. He did finally find it though right before dark set in.......

Sounds like a not so fun way to part with $1200. This is exactly why I haven't tried messing with it and our boats. Mine would for sure go in the drink... that's my kind of luck!

capable of 40mph but it didn`t even try just kept the boat in frame and kept losing tracking

The Autel evo sucked because you had to land and take off on the boat , I lost it when landing on the hatch and a gust of wind took it . I watched it go down while the lights were still all on and then they flickered and died as it disappeared . Reminded me of a Titanic scene when the ship went down.

The Mavic you can throw in the air while the boat is underway and it takes off , a little scary but it works and also catch it when it`s landing .. much easier not to lose it .
At one point this summer I hit the rigging of a sail boat it went sideway , spiralled a bit but recovered. Thats was a close one.
The automatic modes on the Mavic are cool , you choose a mode and then it does it`s own thing . I wouldn`t be afraid to lose this drone ..

I like the orbit and spiral modes
