Hatch ram relocation?
I installed new motors but the hatch ram is running into the new headers when we lower the hatch. What are the options for a workaround on this?
Thanks! https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...7426688e96.jpg |
Any room in front of the motors?
I removed mine because there was no way to make it work. I lift it by hand |

Mine isn't that heavy
Maybe some more pics of what your looking at |
Can you run a pair of rams at the sides of the compartment like in the 42?

Not a cig but I’ve been looking into relocating my lifts as the hatch does not open very wide on a ZR. Cig basically took two of your lift mechanisms and put them on either side on the staggered boats. Ingenious design in my opinion. Not a simple quick project but could be done yes. I’m sure replacing the headers now would be a bear. Other option would be to put electric lifts towards the front of the engine bay that push straight up on the hatch, but not sure if you have the room and those can impede access.

Just a thought , what about realigning the motors but angling them a few degrees away from each other sufficient to allow clearance . The other thing I have heard was that you can have a wedge made for each of the opposing header flanges again sufficient to move the header toward the valve cover enough to afford clearance . The second oppotion is probably alot cheaper than those really cool staggered hatch ram set ups . Just thought . RG.

gotchya...yea definately not lifting a hatch on a cig top gun. Thing probably weighs 200-300 pounds.
I bet my Cafe Hatch weighed more than that. It was ridiculous. Tiger Hatch can be lifted by two people - me and a guy carried it from the Gantry crane to shine sawhorses. Took several guys in the neighborhood to effectively lift my Cafe Hatch..... |
