Understood. No offense intended. My current boat is “Shaken Not Stirred” and those darned James Bond people stole my name! Lol. I now remember your board name from OSO for years, my bad.

My 1972 Magnum Sport had Stock 350 Crusader Scorpions with Volvo 270 Drives. 56 MPH

My !st 28 Cigarette was a 1976 28 S.S Standard build with warmed up 350's and Volvo 270 T's with Speedmaster lowers .61 MPH

The second 28 Cig S.S. was a 1976 built for P-Class in APBA with Stock 280 Merc's with TRS drives. Light layup and thinner cabin wood. 63 MPH

The third 28 Cig S.S. Which I built in 1979 for P-Class In APBA .Stock 280 Merc's with TRS Drives mounted much higher. Much lighter layup & cabin 68 MPH

Thanks LS , I am going to run a pair of 454’s running about 420 to 450 hp with TRS drives. I will set the X dimension a little higher than stock as prop selection is much better these days . hoping to to see high sixties maybe even seventy . But time will tell . Planning to leave cabin pretty bare bones . Great info thanks again .RG

In P-Class back then you needed the cabin to be like a pleasure boat cabin.

The bunks were 1/2" Plywood.... So we made them 1/4 inch in the 79.

Good luck with your project. Put up some pics of it here.

You can do lots of other tricks to a hull
to make more speed without touching the engines

I own one of the last 28 Magnums produced. Factory twin big block /TRS. The Factory high X dimension put the top of transom assemblies in to the area of the rubrail.

LS , I will probably blue print the bottom but I don not want to play with the strakes. I notched my 38 Flat Deck not sure it will make much difference on this hull with the power package contemplated . Cheers RG
