I &am content with 70mph, so for time being I will leave the power and drives. I have been torn trying to decide, but kinda like the old school vibe the boat has lol

6 more hours of grinding!!!! Almost got it all down to glass.

BDiggity 11-08-2022 06:02 AM

That looks all too familiar. Keep it up there is light at the end of the tunnel. It's a train, but still a light. ;)

Bfoodman 11-08-2022 07:51 AM

Quick work for sure!1

Helmwurst 11-08-2022 08:21 AM

Post #11, 6th picture down. Is that the hull bottom? What do you do about that? Grind it out like the transom and replace that too? I am confused. Looks like you have a good pattern for the transom at least. Lot of work but it will be very satisfying when done!

It is the box built for the bilge pump to sit on. I tore it out to have room to tie transom into the bottom 12” or so. It will be built back.

Rick G 11-10-2022 10:06 AM

Hi Scotty , when I replace that pad for the bilge pumps I used composite , that way you don't have to worry about water rotting the wood through the screw holes . I used Star board for those types of pads and Marine plywood for the transom and stringers . Keep up the good work . Cheers RG .

I am using Penske board everywhere. I have been out of town this week, but will get back on it. Plexus, Penske board and 3 different fiberglass materials and a lot of labor

Starting back on the glass work next week, and getting the logo put in the sun pad

jeff32 11-11-2022 04:25 PM

that is nice !!!!!

division1 11-12-2022 07:32 AM

Nice !!!! So on the bilge pump pad we have not been putting that board back in. Junk /bolts/ you name it gets stuck under there take 2 pieces of 3/16 stainless Bend 90 degrees in the mount then them to center stringer works great pump sits on top nicely. Can’t wait till see the progress!!!!

Finally got back at it!!! Penske transom plexused in today

jeff32 11-16-2022 07:16 PM

nice progress!!!

i would have thought you simply needed to use a layer of chopstrand mat and resin instead of plexus...
so i guess i am wrong?

I really don’t know if there is a “right or wrong “ lol. Everyone seems to have different ideas. I know the plexus bonds and holds very well and by troweling it on I can insure 100% coverage with no air pockets! It’s costly, but it’s my personal boat and I want to do it the best way I know of. I will also plexus the stringers in then glass everything together so it looks good .

Started on bulkhead today!!! I feel like I am building a whole boat? lol. But when I am done, I know I have a solid boat!!!! I enjoy the pain

Between work getting in the way and time delays in getting parts, this project is taking longer than I thought lol. Finally got carbs back, now another day of repair/glass work.

ICDEDPPL 12-01-2022 09:42 AM

Daum that bulkhead is ****ed!

Everything in the engine compartment was! lol
Transom, stringers and bulkhead all got to be replaced. Added a couple extra weeks labor, but we ordered enough plexus, Penske boards and fiberglass and resin just in case it was. So no unforeseen extra cost yet.
