ran way out to an island today. Water was pretty snotty. Then ran back through the cut and came out the east side of yhe
island and stormin norman! Tucked into Freeport right now waiting it out.

Just finished a great book, “11 yrs afloat” (or similar) that chronicled living on a boat in the islands, the weather, lack of infrastructure etc.

Very enlightening.

yeah, it’s nice over here but you’re reminded every now and again, it ain’t the US. we were talking with the kids about “don’t get hurt! We’re not in the states”

this cut we went through called the grand lucayan was a huge proposed developement started in the 60’s. Paved all the roads and prepped the lots dredged the waterway from east to west through island, built a hotel which was shuttered 10 years after being built. Only a handful of homes ever built and the hurricane took out most of those. So now this big ghost town exists and a weird waterway. It was cool to see though.

pics: I was told the water during last hurricane reached the bottom of the bridge in the pics. Trippy to see all these abandoned nice houses and then like 5 total still super nice homes that people are obviously living in or using as vacation homes. The loft with the cc was the only boat docked we saw in the whole area.
