30' V hull or step hull question
#1
We were looking at a 2003 Cig Mys T500's in MD, it sold on us before we could attempt to make a move.
Now we have located a 2000 V hull Twin 500's
or a 2002 twin 496MagHO's.
The V boasts 75ish with the 500's and the step with the HO's 79/80 GPS.
I normally would not consider a 3 year old boat.
I understand only about ten 30's are made a year.
I seek data on hull construction, layup, their history etc.
What are the differences???
I also welcome ANY data you Cig guys know first hand.
Also, some "things" I have been told, Cig's are not floor planned. (I find hard to believe).
They are not sold under the MSRP, as we all know most boats can be had 15 to 25% off the inflated number and still pay the dealer a profit.
I know DONZI's pretty well IMHO, help educate me guys.
Thanks in advance.

How about one that has twin Scorpions?
http://www.raymondsboats.com/n_1256.htm
They have had it all of last year and may be on it's second year. They also have a 35 that they have had at least that same amount of time.
http://www.raymondsboats.com/n_1185.htm
For $17K that 35 is a lot more boat. I drive by the 30 every day on the way to work.
The 496ho boat listed on OSO was tested on boattest.com and they got 75 out of it but if you watch the video the conditions were awful.
In my humble opinion, I would go for a 35 over a 30. Not much room behund the bolsters in the 30 and the used 2002's are listing at $150K on down and the 2003 list at $198,000 before paint, that is either a hell of a lot of deperciation or they don't sell em for list.

Brian,
I think we can offer you the best advice of the cigarette since we have more experience with the cigarettes than anyone else. The step bottom boat is the one you want to buy today. Cigarette does not floor plan the boat for the dealers. The 35 has been a long term tried and true cigarette. The 30 mystique was a develop boat that acquired a very small popularity to the general public. The 30 is not so quite popular, the resale value on the 30 would not be as good as the 35!
We would love to answer any questions, Remember that the step bottom boat is going to offer the best performance value, as well the ride is still as good as the older heavier hulls. Cigarettes still hold the best resale value compared to other boats. Your best buy should be with 500 EFIs, it's just more desirable.
Please call us anytime, Tres is THE cigarette expert. He will gladly speak to you and answer all your questions!
We also have a couple of 35 Playboy Cigarettes you just might be interested in!

JM94, I checked out the site yesterday. We are not SOLD on the 30 yet, a 2 year old 35 priced right with managable HP motors would also work. We just started the Cigarette hunt last month, we have plenty of time and a still new 01 Donzi.
Just trying to get smart on the construction layup, history, warranties and other things..
What are the specific construction differences in the newer stepped boats vice the 2000 V's?
Thank you for the reply, who knows we may speak soon.
Bryan
PS, email me some asking numbers on listing 204cg

Brian,
The 2000 layup and todays layup are not far apart, the only difference is they spend more time in the engine room giving it a better finish. There is no dought that todays boat is lighter, the 500EFI's is the most logical choice when looking at a boat like this. The manufacture offers a one year warranty on the hull and the same with the motors when you buy it new! The boat that you are refering to 204cg runs 82MPH and it is near perfect condition. You mentionned that you just started looking around, there are less 35' than 38' specially in the condition in which this boat is!! We will let you know of anything else that comes along.
Regards,

Ok, here is THE BADDEST 30 ever built, that is straight from Neill Hernandez (co-pres at Cig). It's at Lip-Ship Performance and it is perfect. I looked at it last weekend. The boat was built for Enrique Eglesias, he drove it a few times but traded up for a Gladiator.
Twin 575's with ITS steering, 100 mph. Twin Step configuration, sport master lowers. If you want a Mystique this is the one to have. Brand new condition with warranties.
Lip-Ship also has a used "flat bottom" 30 Mystique thats not listed on the website.
Look on this website for lots of pictures of this boat.
