Default 2004 42 w525's, is this power ok

I have had nothing but cats for the last 15 years and I was looking for a 38, but after driving the 38 and 42 (which I thought would feel heavy and plane hard) found the two very simular. What are the pros and cons to the 38 over the 42 and is the 42 underpowered with 525's? Most my boating is done on the Mississippi.

Don't know how fast it will be, but I just was at Martin Marine and their was a new 42 with 525's sitting there. Awsome paint job. Someone was getting a beautiful boat. I don't know who bought it, but it was sold.

Barenboo, I saw your boat go a tad over 82 the day I picked it up from the factory.

was it running stock bravo 28's?! and how much gas was in it, i got 79.8 with 3/4 tank of gas and just myself in it and i only way 110lbs(im 14). so u were either running with a little gas or running different props.

I think most of the TS Cigs running over 80 w/500 EFI's are turning 30' bravos. I put labbed 30's on my Playboy and it really helped acceleration.

01 T/S Gun....81.3 on fresh water at Havasu, 1/2 tanks of fuel, about 500#'s of gear and two 220# guys. This was with Labbed 28's.

With the same props it ran 80.0 on gps in the ocean with 3/4 tanks of fuel, same two guys plus two females, and same gear.

I have a pair of labbed 30's that I have run a couple of times, but it seems to like the 28's better.

I think I can get at least a couple more mph's out of the boat in salt water, but with a lighter load.
