so what was the reason you went for the pantera, rather than the cafe racer. looks sweet from the pics you posted.

Von Bongo 01-05-2004 12:43 PM

I was living in IA and I wanted something smaller to trailer, plus I didn't think anyone within 400 miles could work on the engines.

In the end it worked out, I moved to MO, Sent the Pantera to a good home in AK and bought a Top gun.

Now all is right in the world :D

stecz20 01-05-2004 04:10 PM

von bongo, posts some pics of your gun.

vette131 01-11-2004 04:29 PM

how far below the bottom of the boat would you recomend the prop centerline of a ssm#3 be on a cafe.
measured directly below the drive?

I love that 90 mph paint scheme.

WHEN I HAD MY 35 WITH 800 UNITED RACE ENGINES NUMBER 3 SPEEDS I ONLY SAW 87 WOT

Surgin' General 02-02-2004 03:40 AM

I can get some shots of the transom too if you want. I've got 540's and #3's from the factoryon my 88 cafe racer.

Offshoreracr 02-02-2004 07:22 PM

Surgin, how long have you had your cafe? Do you know how many cafe's were built with 540's and #3's? What is the top speed you have gotten?

I've had mine for three years. It came from the factory with 420's which the previous owner replaced with 540's. I upgraded the fuel lines to 1/2" lines last summer but haven't GPS'd it yet. I'm looking to move up this season so here's a shot for anyone interested in owning part of a legend....

I have passed your boat at idle speed, the headers from your boat sound like BadA$$ machine guns. Sweet ride!!! For people who have not seen your boat in person with the motors running, the photos do not do it enough justice. Very nice.

Setting the bar? Yes indeed! I own a Baja and I come over here to see the real hardware. They are quality boats, no argument here. Some day, my Cigarette will find me, about 5 years from now. Hopefully sooner.

Pushing a Cafe at 96 mph you need a stable full of horses. Congrats.
