Re: 1985 Cig Questions
JGB, you're right, I didn't read the post correctly, that first one was a Minx, I thought that was the Cig. Your's is definetely higher than rws's.

Re: 1985 Cig Questions
Hi,
It is Teak .This was common on the older 20's.I would guess 400 or so Hp. TRS is big and heavy, but will take all the power that a normally aspired small block will make.I usually run a 21 or 23 mirage, but sometimes a cleaver. I posted the same pictures on the "other site" under who owns a cig in the Cigarette section and they are a lot clearer for some reason. Rob |
Re: 1985 Cig Questions
Hi cuda, how's the minx running?
Rob, Which prop do you like best? Did you stain the teak at all or treat it any particular fashion? It appears darker than the teak on the '85 20. Also what kind of HP does it take to spin a 25 cleaver? |
Re: 1985 Cig Questions
I removed the hardware from the deck and all of the gauges from the dash and sanded the teak with 60 grit ,then oiled with teak oil.I would think that a 25 pitch cleaver would require more hp than I have. What gear ratio is your drive? Mine is a 1.5.

Re: 1985 Cig Questions
I would think my drive(alpha ss) is 1.5.
I think you may used the darker teak oil as opposed to the golden teak oil. Yup, I was trying to make the point that in order to spin a 25p cleaver there must be some decent HP in that engine. What pitch cleaver do you run with 400hp and the trs? Have a good one, Jim |
Re: 1985 Cig Questions
Jim, I have a 23 cleaver if you want to try it.

Re: 1985 Cig Questions
Cuda, that would great! Thanks a lot for offerring. I also want to see what a mirage or mirage plus will do on that setup. Either way should be fun trying different things out. I am probably looking at a couple more weeks to finish and put her all back together.
