Default Towing a Bullet w/a k2500?

Ok, I know it will be a hefty load, but I think the power train will handle it......how can I beef up my suspension to better handle the load?

If you have rear drum brakes on the burban, then your front brakes arn't that good either. (the dealer service manager said "But they meet the legal requirements.")

Change out your front brake pads to ceramic pads. They stop better, and don't have brake-fade issues. The first use of them in the morning is weak, but from there you're golden. Also, make sure the rear drums are frequently adjusted during pulling season. Don't count on the automatic adjusters to do this. Also, make sure the trailer brakes are working right, and doing their part.

Make sure you have E rated tires, or 10 ply rated tires, the same thing. I think your truck uses size 245. If they're bigger than that, then D may be okay. No one ever regretted having too strong a tire when pulling. There may be a slight trade-off in ride.

Good shocks are a good idea.

I pulled a heavy boat similar to yours thousands of miles on a Myco steel trailer with a 1500 suburban with 150,000 miles on the odometer with the above mods and the Firestone airbags. It did better than it should have. You're going to be great with a 2500 and the same mods.

I just re-read your post, and you might have a pickup instead of a suburban. Doen't matter. Same things apply.

I tow my Bullet with a K2500 Suburban. It does a great job with the 454 (except at the gas pump!). I did add the AirLift 1000 rear airbag system and liked the results alot.

I forgot to add that mine has the 46MM Bilstein shocks, HD tranny cooler and all of the "other" towing goodies.

I've towed our Top Gun with my 2002 6.0 2500 HD with no problem. You'll be fine.
