Will an '04 F150 S-crew 4x4 Haul a gladiator?

As I put together the deal for the Gladiator I'm curious if I can go back to diving a more friendly everyday driver. I don't want to worry about parking/driving a diesel dually always.

Just curious to everyone's thoughts. I believe i've seen BG1's Glad. hitched to his H2. An F-150 has got way more towing capacity than that.

Greg, Why dont you go to a F-250 diesel. I towed my Gun with one for 6 months and it was not to bad. An F-150 gas job isnt going to handle that kind of weight for to long

It will be close......

A Gladiator is listed as weighing 8000 pounds on the Cigarette Racing web site. Even if you go with an aluminum trailer, the trailer has to weigh a minimum of 1500 pounds for a total trailer weight of 9500 pounds.

The only way a 2004 F-150 Crew Cab tows that weight is to get the 4x2 with 3.73 gears and the 5.4 liter Triton engine - towing capacity 9500 pounds. The same set up in 4x4 is rated at a max. trailer weight of 9200 pounds. The link to the Ford web site listing all the specs for the various F-150's is listed below:

Good Luck!

While I was typing my reply, Otis311 responded.

Personally, I agree with him. An F-150 might do it for a while, but I wouldn't want to own that truck once it was out of warranty!!!!

You will be happier with a F250. Let me price one to you when you get ready. check out our inventory at www.sandersford.com. You will really like the Gladiator. We just ran mine at the 1000 islands poker run. It was a blast!

Thanks Mat, I have been kickin' it around awhile.

I'll let you know. Deal isn't gonna happen overnight anyway. I like the 'gun and will not pull the trigger 'til I return to Fla. in Sept. or Oct.

Well I paint allot of cigarettes 36-38-42-46 ect. so I tow them all, as far as towing a gladiator, I recommend at least an f-250. diesel if possible. plus think about stopping your rig in a hurry. bigger brakes are better.

Jeffrey (Board god #1) towed his to Havasu (5+ hrs) w/a hummer! Said it was no problem. I would think they would be about comparable no?

Not a problem if you add electric over hydraulic braking
