the collector block was corroded and the fitting was rotten on the block. the block also had two wires coming out of it going to the plastic cap that covered the collector block.what purpose do they serve. thanks for your help

they are probably ground for the Mercathode system. If you go to www.mercruiserparts.com you can look up the assembly and order the correct parts online no shipping.
