I was in that boat in Miami just as it was being completed (few things weren't done). We hit 83-84mph is my memory serves. The boat hadn't been properly dialed-in nor the motors fully broken-in at that time. It was an AWESOME RIDE! You're a luckyu man.

Re: Project: 46 Rough Rider

Very windy and cold! We (four of us and half tank of fuel) ran 5 blade 30p Herrings and saw 87.3 on the gps at 5300. Innovation said 5400 max rpm. We did not run it that hard since it was the first time out. Only problem I saw was one fuel gauge isn't working. I had a big smile on my face. Bobby Moore and his son William and Bobby Jr. have done a great job! He is currently working on a 46 Skater that is going to Brazil.

Congrats Matt, cold or not bet it was fun! I would be like the guy in the mustang commercial, frozen stiff with an ear to ear grin!!! I'm sure youll get 90 plus once its dialed in right...Rob

Stecz,
We have a new phone system so call my desk direct @ 910-478-4101 or call my cell at 910-330-1911. Have a good weekend.

I am going to try and run the boat again tomarrow.

Offshoredrillin, what are you going to do with the paint of your new boat? I saw GLH's post in general discussion you mentioned the paint code and that it will look different soon. I have always liked your graphics. Have you run it yet?

Re: Project: 46 Rough Rider

Hey Matt,
Congrats on getting everything together, I'm going to personalize it some, the 88 and the flag will disapear, and I am going to add some matching blue over the orange, and a bright red highlight stripe will differentiate the two. Then I am going to add a brighter/lighter blue ribbon to match the blue ribbon, but have it ending pointing down. I'm not sure if I will take it over the gunwale or not. After that I'm just going to enjoy it this summer, maybe juice up the motors some next winter, but still not get away from the stock EFI and reliability...Rob

Havent run it yet, I pick it up in a few weeks, I'm having a new Myco built for it...counting the days:D

Well Matt??? how did it go???

mcraymond3 03-06-2005 07:22 AM

Re: Project: 46 Rough Rider

Offshoredrillin,
I did not get to run it again. Waiting on some more props from Throttle up. I can't wait to see how your boat turns out. Orange and blue are my favorite colors on a Cig. I want to paint my Myco Orange and I have a couple of blue stripes that I want to bring out with a new Blue cockpit cover.
I bet you can't wait to get your new boat. Did you get a painted or alum. Myco.

offshoredrillin 03-06-2005 07:33 AM

Re: Project: 46 Rough Rider

I got the welded aluminum. I'm going to be working with Myco designing PPF kits to protect your painted trailers from the abuses of the road. Talked with Bill on fri, and will be designing them when I get down there. He was telling me the beams and fenders get eaten up from rocks and road debris. the film should stop all of this and therefore no rust starting in those areas. My Grandma is in Bradenton as well so it's a good trip. I talked with Barry at Pro-artworks about the paint job and sent him some paint designs that I did on the comp, its going to look like a diff boat for sure, but I'm not doing too much, dont want to go overboard on it...Rob

mcraymond3 03-06-2005 07:38 AM

Re: Project: 46 Rough Rider

Rob,
The Aluminum is my favorite. My boat came with a painted Myco, otherwise I would have ordered the Aluminum. Keep me posted on the PPF kits. That sounds interesting.
Mat

offshoredrillin 03-06-2005 07:46 AM

Re: Project: 46 Rough Rider

I sure will, once I get the designs the only diference will be in the length of the beams. When are you painting yours, I'll send you out one as a test. I like the aluminum too, my dually will have no problem hauling. I looked at a couple other trailer companies, then saw a thread and heard some horror stories. Dealing with Bill has been awesome.the product and the follow up shows why they are num 1.

Bet you cant wait to get it back out? you going to smoke on the water?

mcraymond3 03-06-2005 07:56 AM

Re: Project: 46 Rough Rider

Rob,
I have room reservations> I sure hope to make it. Are you going? I won't paint my trailer until this summer when I can put the boat on the lift.

offshoredrillin 03-06-2005 08:25 AM

Re: Project: 46 Rough Rider

Bob sent me all the info, I may sponser there, it sure is a great cause, and I'm expanding the 3M PPF into marine apps. I have to get the tiger up here, and then see where the $$$ falls, still have bucks going into the vegas shop and not much return on it yet:rolleyes:.As you well know jan and feb are slow car months, but have been doing plenty to build the aftermarket in the dealers I support, march is always a good month. I would like to make it out, I dont have reservations or anything yet, Steczy said he would come too, amybe get craig as well and see what happens, I know it would be fun. After all, the people that have boats have cars and we are all trying to protect them. I'm working on kits for boats as well, I'll use my tiger for pattern, Stecz cafe and craigs bullet, and I guess yours for RR pattern, that way anyone that needs them I can cut and ship directly to them. keep an eye on the impact areas that you see will get chipped or cracked and let me know, first hand knowledge in each area by the owners is the best way to design the kits. Maybe we should get you selling some PPF in the dealership too?...Rob

mcraymond3 03-06-2005 03:18 PM

Re: Project: 46 Rough Rider

Rob,
That sounds good. I would be glad to try some kits. I have a whole building filled with accessories and aftermarket products. I will be out of town all next week for a meeting in AZ but get up with me the following week.

i'm leaving early wed morning to pick it up, figures jan and feb are slow in the car business and I get slammed as soon as I try to take some time off. I talked with Julie as well, she recommended the same prop for me less pitch until I get some more hp. I'm not sweating what ol crooked neck says:D, he is like a duck with one leg, just swims in circles. GL, what props do you have?

and steczy, the best thing about Maryland is...it isnt NJ :evilb:

It poured all day today and suppossed to rain until Saturday. The props sure do look good on the boat though. Can't wait to try it.

dont sweat him Matt, he's just teasin. He knows that I'm prolly one of the only guys that would help his sorry butt. He's Mr. Wonderful:D

I bet they look good, I cant wait to get rollin this spring, I think with the p5's I'll pick up a little speed, but the manuverability will be much better, and I think it will raise the stern some as well. Should be a good fit. then when I up the HP, it will get better...Rob

A friend tried 5 blades on his straight bottom TIger and it barried his nose and slowed his boat down and rpm's a lot...
Keep that in mind.

mcraymond3 03-18-2005 09:08 PM

Re: Project: 46 Rough Rider

I tried Hydromotives 29P PX-5s today. It was again very windy. The boat ran the same top speed (87) but I did not have the boat trimmed all the way out. 4 people on board. These props did bring the boat out of the water. I think the right props will be 30p PX-5's.

GLH- How much do you torque the top caps?

offshoredrillin 03-18-2005 11:44 PM

Re: Project: 46 Rough Rider

Good to hear Matt, thats a nice steady speed, for a big boat. I'm thinking and from what Julie told me, once you have the 5 blades, and it raises the stern, trimming will bring the nose right back up. Makes sense in theory, but we are talkin boats here:rolleyes: did they bring it up and out fast Matt?

Oh that was another thing Julie told me, the five blade round tip will keep bow up, the cleaver brings it down. Gl what did your friend have cleaver or round?I would assume the more blades the more the stern would try to climb out of the water as it is creating for torque. So big boats like ours w/ striaght hulls could benefit, from more blades, but not like your friend had that put more of our bow in the water.

Her quote from another thread:

1) Each time you add a blade you will induce more stern lift.
2) Cleaver design propellers induce stern lift and round ear blade designs induce bow lift.

So the 6B will have a much greater amount of stern lift than the 5B.

Great Question!

Julie

Merc Book says #35ft/lbs.

That's what I have my dedicated torque wrench set at. I check them everytime I put in. Specially the left turning one that runs off the top gear.

mcraymond3 03-19-2005 11:34 AM

Re: Project: 46 Rough Rider

Thanks GLH.

Rob, I did feel like the whole boat was out of the water more. I was pleased that it didn't feel like I was driving a real big boat. It was fun to drive. I really like the Hydromotives PX-5's more than the Herrings. Julie knows some stuff!!

Re: Project: 46 Rough Rider

I tried the 27 5 blades and it pushed my nose down. It doesnt make sence, but it did. Im still working with Julie to try different setups and havent ruled out the 5 blades, but my first impressions werent good with the 5 blades on my set up. I just didnt like the feel of them. Maybe Im old schooll also.

Re: Project: 46 Rough Rider

Once it gets here I'll see if Julie has a test plan, and see what they do, right now it has 26p 4 blade bravos, guess I'll spend a day testing and takin tools for swaps:D, I would love to find something that would help all of us, with some speed and manuvering, docking would be a dream then:)

Was this with your new Mesa motors Bob? would that have had anything to do with the dial in?

It was with the new motors. But I dont think the bow steering and stern lift I was expierencing had any thing to do with the new engines. I think it was the props. More testing will prove me right or wrong
