Gladiator Speeds
I know that a 525EFI boat will run 90mph, but I'm wondering how much hp it will take to run 100mph? How fast with 700s? Is a Gladiator stable at speeds over 100mph?
I know we have gone over this before, but is there anyone that truly knows whether a staggered Gladiator is faster than a side-by-side with the same power? Does anyone know how many Gladiators have been made to date? Thanks, LS JR. |
Re: Gladiator Speeds
I told you haw fast T.A.'s went.

Re: Gladiator Speeds
I have kind of been wandering the same thing. I just
ordered a gladiator with 750 Sterlings. Neil told me he thought around 108-112 if we get it propped right?? |

LS JR. T.A.'s boat ran 102-103 when I drove it. Side by side setup, 700 Zul's. The one with 750 Sterlings and the left side driver station only ran high 90's until they completely retuned it. It ran maybe 100 or so afterward. Better have good engines to get the good speeds. :D :D |

Re: Gladiator Speeds
I believe Brett will be able to give you the best comparison of the two, apples to apples.
One note, If you ever might use another outdrive besides a bravo, The staggered set up will rule out drives with trannies in the boat and arneson drives. |
Re: Gladiator Speeds
Mike!!! Thanks for the gift!
As far as the comparison goes... I need some more seat time in the new boat. We are still chasing some instrument grounding issues and a few other detailing things before the fun starts. The boat runs very well though. I need to get BK1 some stick time so that I can concentrate on driving with both hands!!!! |
Re: Gladiator Speeds
What is the reason some Gladiators are turning the props in?

Re: Gladiator Speeds
And yes the staggered will be slightly faster because you can play with the toe in/out to get a few mph increase..... until the props touch!!!
|
Re: Gladiator Speeds
I heard by turning the props in, it doesn't chime walk at w.o.t.????

Re: Gladiator Speeds
Luckystrike......my boat is going to be staggered.

Bobby....I believe all Gladiators are now built with a staggered set up unless the customer specifically asks for a side be side config....the fastest I have seen so far on my boat is 92...and it is not propped right either.....I also turn in and it does throw a nice rooster tail....

Re: Gladiator Speeds
That boat goes fast !!

Where would be the cut off line hp wise be before you start blowing drives left and right?

Re: Gladiator Speeds
The staggered Gladiators run 2 MPH better than side by side.We have seen 108 MPH with 750HP and Hering 6 blades.

Re: Gladiator Speeds
Friend rides with 6 blade Herrings on a staggered Glad and says he lost about 4 miles per hour when he went from 4 blades to 6 blades, but the 6 blade set up is much more civil. His high end is still above 105.

Re: Gladiator Speeds
JCPERF.......You say you have seen 108 with 6 blade herrings and 750's. Was that with a very light load?? What will it run on a daily basis w/ people and some fuel??
Also what pitch are those props? Sorry for so many questions. I have some 31 pitch 6 blade herrings but i don't know if i'll have to have them reworked or not. My boat will have 750 sterlings. Thanks in advance. |
