42 Tiger TS or X
Thinking about a 42 Tiger. Need some advise. I am only going with twins most likely the new 600's. I like them both and I am leaning to the X because I can get them staggered. What have you guys heard???

Greek Lightning loves his X, and there is a man who knows performance V's.

Can you get the X with 600's? I thought you could only get it with big power.

I think you can get an X in any flavor you like
I know big power with 6's staggered has been done and I have seen triples as I posted here so I doubt twin 600's staggered would be an issue. As for an opinion if you care BEAST1 I would love a staggered 42 X and if I choose any boat for me next it would most likely be that. The only thing I dont like is the how the gauges are arranged in the driver cluster, I understand in the X the cluster has to be more upright to get the space to stagger the engines but I would push to have more gauges on the driver side. I love the cluster on the TS Tigers, 12 gauges in sort of a box set up with the RPM's on top, I have found running my boat when you are at cruising speed all the needles are pointing at 12 o'clock makes it easy to monitor and when something is askew it sticks out right away. It looks like they have anough space on the X to set up the gauges that way also but I have never seen it. I am not crazy about having gauges on the passenger side, maybe save for voltage and gas like it is in the Top Guns and Non X Tigers. Just my humple opinion if you care. -42 X with trips -42 X cluster -42 Classic set up |

GLH,
Thank you for your input. That is what I need to help me out. Now I have not seen or heard of any one running the X with that low of power and I am curious on what you think it will realistically run with 600's. The TS should run mid to upper 80's. I just think the X looks so cool. The TS has a dated look but for some reason that look will never go away because it does look nice. I do agree with GLH the more gages the better but I do like the Merc Smartcraft gages. Don't get me wrong a dash full of gages I will still have. Just because you have to. |

I'll tell you what alot of people here make the difference, but outside of this community I'd be surprised if more than 5/100 would know which boat is more recent than the other parked beside one another. And 75/100 wouldn't make the difference between a Baja, Fountain or a Cigarette, for that matter the diff between a Cat and a V. |

Beast
Give Tres Martin a call he will tell you what he thinks of the X and the TS and he propably knows better than most what he is talking about. GL how is the wing ? Cigaretteman |
Re: 42 Tiger TS or X
Cigaretteman,
Good point, I have not tried Tres. From what I have found out talking to different dealers the TS with that power should run faster by 1 or 2 MPH. But the X will handle better in bigger water. Now if I boost the power up that is when the X comes alive. I guess I should just go with big power and be done with it. |
Re: 42 Tiger TS or X
I would look at the X w/ triple 525's. You do not have a blower to service on the 525 like on the 600. How fast are you looking to run?
