IRONMAN 01-16-2012 09:17 PM

If you are using the same alpha type cutouts I would use the water pickups through the drives and make the entire setup look stock like a ~1985 272LS or 242LS twin engine bay.

We are now at the re-power stage. Tired 260's are being replaced by a pair of strong Vortec Roller Motors. I have made a serious decision to move up from Alpha/Merc No 1 drives to Bravo I's. The old 260's are out and the 2008 Bravo Transom assemblies complete with rams, cables, hoses and pumps are on the truck from Texas...should get them next week.

This old 'bird is about to get a serious kick in the ass!!:evilb:

Old 260's coming out:

Clean 33 year old bilge ready for Transom assembly removal and rigging....waiting on 2: Bravo Transom assemblies.

Next is template drill of 2: additional holes for the Bravo Transom Assemblies, install same along with new trim pumps, bilge pump and plumbing, bilge blowers and plumbing.

Meanwhile...Engines are being set up with all of the brackets and accessories from the 260's that are worthy. Then we paint every thing. I am still engineering the exhaust and cooling. At this point we are leaning towards aluminum Hi Po manifolds through the Bravo Y pipes. I am still undecided on whether to pull raw water through hull or through the drives.

I am going to be seriously looking for a pair of Bravo I drives soon.

I can see it all coming together now. Cant wait to get this classic back in the water.

Here's a couple of my 86 23' Nova.
That little 32 fit nicely in there...Not thinking clearly when I sold that a coupla years ago. Boat ran great, new transom, stringers, upholstery...just about to tackle the paint & someone made me an offer I couldnt refuse.
So, now I'm doing another.

BTW- So many beautiful/older boats in this thread...its been some great reading. Hope it continues on. Boatnuts-that Bertram of yours is nothing short of spectacular. I cant get the pic in post #1271 out of my head.

Do I spy a Turbo Diesel Nova? :grinser010:

High Cetane 01-31-2012 07:34 PM

Yes, thanks, the little 32 was turbo'd/supercharged/aftercooled. Changed the pulleys around to spin the blower faster, and just some minor pump & injector changes had it running really sweet. Coupled to a 290 Duoprop it was a great combo.
By no means fast, it did 40 wot, cruised @ 36 while sipping fuel.
Time to plane made skiing & tubing fun...it was a great boat.

Pic out at Raystown.
