Mel Riggs?
 

I live in Minneapolis but store my Magnum in Fond Du Lac so I drive right by Mel Riggs' shop. I'd love to meet him........do you think he'd mind if I stopped in to say hi?

i doubt it, hes still in the marine business and you may end up being a new customer if your smart, he knows offshore racing and was around when your boat was brand new :D

mel repaired one of my drives this summer. price has less then the quote. and the service has great. he talked to me on the phone like we where old friends. great guy great family/crew.

I speek to Melvin frequntly. I asked him if his ears were burning? He asked me how I knew....told him of all the positive talk about him on O.S.O.He just said hmmmmm.Just thought it was the new after shave that Ma got me ........great sense of humor.........m.m........

I get a kick out of some of the guys on here that go to "outdrive pros" and then go to Mel after they can't get a season (usually a lot less than a season) out of their drives.
Mel did one of my SSM 3A drives in June of 2003 and after the season was over I took them both back to Mel to service and inspect them both.
Not only did he treat me fair on the rebuild but he came in under the original quote. There is no doubt as to where I'll go if I need further Speedmaster work done.
Mel is a great guy and does great work. Just my opinion.

Here is our buddy now.......just smirking about how he is going to blow off those expert boat racers.

And he did it.......guys like Mel and Brownie never said too much about what they were going to do, they just did it and made it stick!

Mel Riggs is the most knowledge person around these parts...he can find you parts and engines that others can't.As the story goes he was Fired by Carl Kiekhaefer numerous times but Carl just kept bring him back.
They are all family up there the 3 boys due the work and and Mel solves problems and loves to talk about boats.He worked on my Maltese with twin 650's, and will be putting in brand new 383's in the old Gentry Race boat..told you he can find things that no one can ...He is the best and is located in Eldorado WI.Bud

TRS OR TR3 Stern Drives
 

I would like to know if Mel Riggs (Riggs Marine Service) stocks TRS & Or TR3 Mercruiser Stern Drives. Or knows who may sell them.

I bought two new drives and some other parts from Mel. He is an absolute gentleman and great to deal with.

offshore performance specialties ft. myers fl. has trs stuff.

Mel and his family are great. This is where my Apache goes for any motor / drive issues. HIGHLY recommend them...LT

After reading so many strings about negative crap about people in the business, it is really refreshing to read this type of thread. When a person who has been in the business as long as Mel Riggs has is able to generate the types of comments in this thread....nice change of pace:)

My Family and I have been going to Mel Riggs for over 25 years with our boating needs. It all started with my dad's 1986 Mach 1 Condor with a crazy small block built my Mel and the crew. Parents are in the Oshkosh Wi and I remember going there as a kid and just wondering around DROOLING over all the boats and crazy motors set-ups. Its crazy the amount of power he can get out of a motor and make it look stock. The man is truly a legend.

I must be the only one that he tried to hammer on my 3A's in all these years. He wanted 16k to rebuild 2 drives and Lake X was 10k cheaper out the door...with shipping. Not bashing good ol Mel, maybe he just thought I was an easy mark...WRONG
