A "Kaama" is kinda like an African deer so to speak....part of the heartabeast family. I thought Betty Cook was quite a woman. I watched her race at the Coral Gables races in Saugatuck, Michigan back in the early 1980's. Some of my recollections of Betty is that she had a high respect for the rough waters of Lake Michigan and that she was proactive in trying to make racing routes more visable for spectators.
I would have instead explained the history of the race boats
At least that's what it means to me - just an old-school Offshore junkie.
As a kid, I always tagged along with Dad to the boat show's, and I grabbed every brochure I could from every vendor there (I'm sure the sales rep's loved me for eating up all thier literature, a non-customer taking brochures - but I was 10, I could get away with it).
I always liked the production KAAMA scarabs over all the other Scarabs - there was just something cool about the flat deck, and race style hatches vs. the sun pad. My Dad always said it was "impractical" on a boat. I guess it just depends on your intended use for the boat

i can remember meeting betty with my dad too, it was rite after my old man finished the old swap shop boat, even back then he was restoring old offshores....I can remeber her patting me on the head and sayong how cute i was........................She probably had no idea how ugly i was going to turn out to be..................lol,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,n o really i am ugly......................
