Hi MF! Yes but not exactly.
Rautbord to win the World Title in 1972 raced two 36' Fino.
They was identical,in colour, name and race number. But they was ricognizables in some litle particulars. The most visible was the chine's strips; The 36' that raced in Europe(in the picture above) had a black strip, the other 36' had a yellow one.
Rautbord sold the yellow strip Fino to Bonomi (and it's your) and then raced again in 1973 with the black strip Fino.

How go the rebuilt MF?

Nigel: great pix, and brings back so many memories, I was speaking with Steve Curtis at the Ft. Laud. boat show last week about the shead boat ABO ( another bloody Omelet) and had some laughs. I am trying to get interest to sponsor a legends hall of fame, with an anual banquet to honor legends past and present and to induct individuals into hall of fame. I could see this as a full time job, and of course a legends race series?????????? The pix!!!!!!!!! Dry Martini became Yellow Drama, Ken Kassir ran. I bought Rautboard boat indirectly to try and beat Rautboard for the 1972 World Championship. He ended up winning the worlds, I think by 2 pts. over us, that would have given me 8Xchamp, story behind it. All the pix you show, I was there. Great times and memories, keep the good times rolling 7XCHAMP

Marco: I notice in your pix, with all the boats starting, I think that may have been the Miami Naussau race 1972, I think the 96 boat was DeAngeles. If I remember correctly Vincenso leased the boat to him, it was the little Cigarette, flat deck, wood. The reason was to put as big of a contingent as possible to prevent Bonomi from winning, it was all about the numbers back then, and Balestreri along with DeAngeles were bitter rivals against us, so one more boat in the race accounted for additional points. Great pix. sure is great that our sport does actually have some historians for the European circuit like you and Nigel, Many Thanks to you both, nice also to see the colaboration between the two of you.
Almost 8XCHAMP but almost does`nt count. Funny makes me think with my over 60 carreer victories, how many seconds and thirds I had. Also at some point I want to put together how many actual race miles I have covered in my Carreer????????????????

Hi Richie! It's always a beautiful thing read your memories!
That picture was taken at the Sam Griffith Memorial in 1972. De Angelis came in Miami with Balestrieri to buy the new Cigarette 36' Eraf, that in light blue-white colour.
That was probably the first competition offshore for the former circuit's champ De Angelis. Balestrieri and De Angelis were both Romans and their bussiness it was in the buildings in Rome and very friendly between them. It was Balestrieri to introduce him in the offshore and in that Sam Griffith race he tried the 31' customized Cary that was drove by Balestrieri in some italian races in the 1971,before it was damaged in the VBV with rough waters(the wodden deck started to broke).
From what I know, Bonomi, was not to race in that Sam Griffith Memorial. Bonomi started then to the Trophy Naples with his white Aeromarine IX that you have rigged.
There was enough rivalries' between Bonomi and Balestrieri. Perhaps this was due to the fact that for the first time the Roman champion had a more rival' strong, because' organized better.
Everything this then burst' resoundingly in France in 1973, after the arrival of the Dauphin D' Or, where the Dry Martini still won and Balestrieri think' that your Kiekhaefers were not regular. It was an unpleasant history where Balestrieri lost the head and also he quarrel' with Jack Stuteville, dismissing him then.
All the Best Richie!

Marco
