Hi Ritchie, hope you are well. Great shots, but I must tell a story about ollies shot of the A5 boat. This was Nigel Hooks 3rd race boat, with in the next two years he managed to win the World title, National title, western and South East divisional titles and set the kilo record (and crashed it trying to push the record over 100). This shot is of the boats first outing, as usual the boat was late from the builders, I got 1 1/2 days to throw it together as we needed to finish this race (Marina Del Ray) in the top 3 to qualify for the kilos at Sarasota (93 I think), the boat got a used Merc 420 (engine not ready) and used pleasure seats out of customer boat. It was lunched that morning, note holes in engine cover for clearance, scoop followed. With about 9 starting that race in A class our work was cut out but being ultra light 26' against most others being around 22" we went on to win the race! The following month we set the kilo at 93mph (up from 84) and won the race in Sarasota for good measure. Craig Archer

Thanks for the info Craig. Wasn't that boat used for the presentation of MerCruisers Blackhawk drive? By the way I once read that you have built some hulls yourself. Any pics available?

Thanks Mange LS/Archer Marine, oopps seems R.P. beat me to it  I believe no raceboats were made by Wellcraft for the purpose. |
Is it a true L.S boat and is it the same one that is for sale for years now with no power or drives. Great looking boat What's been going on with it over the last few year and is somthing wrong with it. Going to need big dollars to power that monster and drives with triples. Looking for info on the boat |
