EDIT: New Pics Added

Came across this in the storage yard I keep my trailers in. Don't know anything about it. Just thought I'd share.

Ryan Beckley 03-01-2007 08:00 PM

Wow that's a sad sight.....Is it in Lauderdale? Can you get the owners info?

handfulz28 03-01-2007 08:05 PM

Hey Ryan, I'll ask at the storage yard tomorrow. The name on the sticker was something like Schenkle, but don't quote me on the spelling. Oh yeah, it's in Pompano Beach. Sample and Powerline if you're familiar with the area.

nick k 03-01-2007 08:08 PM

still crazy

What a cool velocity? Definitely some history there...Someone save 111.

Ryan Beckley 03-01-2007 08:13 PM

The boat last raced around 1984 the crew moved up to an open class cat in 1985 and were both Killed in Key West RIP **** Fullam and Mike Poppa....

handfulz28 03-01-2007 08:22 PM

Geez Ryan, I just noticed your number. Sorry to hear about the racers. I wonder if someone has been holding on to it as a memorial or something. I don't want to disturb any spirits or upset anybody, I've already got enough bad voo doo in my life right now :D

racesdad 03-01-2007 08:41 PM

In the early 80's Velocity claimed to be the first deep V to break 100 mph. Is this the boat that broke the 100 mph barrior?

JERSEY DEVIL 03-02-2007 07:51 AM

yes. the 30 was the first i believe

Robert,

I think the hull that broke 100 was the old "Airbrook" when Steve Stepp and Gene Whipp had it. they sold it to the late Jeff Galenti.
Jeff changed the name to Airbrook. Jeff and I raced it for a season. The transom was redone so many times, that it had a 1 inch alum. plate across the enite back of it. This was what was told to us by Steve Stepp and Gene Whipp. The boat may still be around the Brick NJ area.

Thank you
Jim

Hello,

Last time that I saw it, it was at race up in Ma. this was a couple of yrs after Jeff had it. The new owners were from NJ.
We races it a season in the North East before Jeff got sick.
Think at one time when Steve Stepp and Gene Whipp had it, it also had Arneson Drives on it, when we got from them, it had TRS on it.
Think it had the Arneson's when it broke 100.

Thank you

Jim

It's seen better days guys, so let me know if you'd like to proceed.
I'm not looking to be a middle man here but out of respect to the yard owner I think it'd be best if I contact the owner and if they're interested I'll pass along the contact info for those that are still interested.
Feel free to PM/email me or if you think there's a better way, let me know.

Ryan Beckley 03-02-2007 05:24 PM

See I f they are intrested in selling it and if it has a title, if you can track them down. It would be a cool project to restore to the right person for the right money.

Hey Stickerboy!

Any idea what became of the Still Crazy Cougar hull?

Good luck with the new 30 Ryan...

littlenige 03-03-2007 01:49 PM

Thatīs the great thing about this site - instant info on long lost and found bits of racing history! Amazing!

Ryan Beckley 03-03-2007 02:52 PM

The Still Crazy Cougar becam the Coors Light boat run by Barrie/Roberts but the only ran it a few times. It sold out of Jacksonville (I think) stripped bare hull last year.

Poo 03-03-2007 03:07 PM

I love the dash on those mid 80's velocity's . They give me the same feel as late 60's early 70's mopar muscle cars, where youre sitting on top rather than inside.

Any of you know of a back seat i can get for a 85 22' ?

Ryan Beckley 03-03-2007 03:33 PM

Velocity still builds the 22 the could probably get you one.

Poo 03-03-2007 03:42 PM

Thanx Ryan . I'll look up thier # .:D

It's so nice out today I had to give it some attn : .

Finally talked to the owner today. He hasn't given up on it. I told him about OSO so hopefully he'll get on here and share his ideas.
