Ok, here is MY list of boats to find:

"Beep Beep" 38 Cobra 1976
"Mongoose" 1976
"Kudu" 1974
and the "Sea Sweep" .........with the straight drives and the rudder! Way cool , and wayyy scary!
Oh, and would love to find our old 1979 Larry Smith Scarab and buy it back and give back to my Mom.

Cheers

BTW, Hello Charlie , Richie, and if John is reading hello to you too!

The Bertrams were pretty dominant back then. Was the bottom used on any other boats or modified and have become modern day V Bottoms?

Default Medium V

They have a 20 degree deep V, not 24 degree to get more speed. They also had some rocker built in, hence they liked to run trimmed out. 7Xchamp has a comment posted somewhere he rigged the "49" boat and couldn't get it right until he trimmed way out and the bow popped up. The Bertram 38's carried there bow high, hence the cut down decks. These are still the most beautiful V hulls around IMHO.

Rob, Sea Sweep became Hublot and raced in Europe - not sure what became of it after that.

Sea Sweep had a long life in Italy, with many layers of varnish.
I remember the versions,Spray Pan and Missoni.
