What are you thinking Stormrider...Konrad or Imco...?

I like the konrads... low maint. and w/ a tranny, forward center of gravity. There is a 29 mirage near me that i've got my eye on... its not for sale. its got twin trs and changing to konrads would be easy if / when.

This 29 isn't a small 29 and will take alot of HP to push.
Talk to some of the Pantera guys w/ big singles, they could be of some help. I'd have to say the 29mirage is a good 10-15% heavier than the 28pantera too.
Also, littledcsrodshop is redoing his 28 saber.
Imo, these sized boats w/ twin sbcs is a great option, but the mirage is bigger and seems to do well w/ bbcs.

why would you choose a XR over a Konrad besides cost??

I think the konrad will hook right up to a TRS gimble... at least there is no glass work involved. I'd bet parts are around 12,000 for the drive, which will handle up to 800hp. :eek:
Someone w/a cig mistress is doing one right now.

It sure would be nice to only change drive oil once a yr(per biggus) as opposed to every 20-25hrs.

I would stick with the twin option.....A hell of a lot less work and you could make a wicked pair of small blocks, There is no match to the internal geometry of a small block you can pound the rpm, and not worry................It is all about your wallet brother

In MHO you should go with twin small block 400 c.i. w/ iron 200+dart heads. 230/480 hydrualic cams and 750 holleys. You could put it together inexpensively with good used car parts. Spend the money for the BRAVO conversion w/ steering. You won't need xr's and stock drives w/ minor upgrades will work good. I had ideas about buying the boat you bought ,and repowering it. It should run in the high 80's and be super reliable if done right. I don't like single engine boats that big, and the TRS drives are so Bruried in the water at the current X dimension that speed and handling are effected. High X with 4 blades and bravo drives. You could watch EBAY for small block exhaust. Good Luck with your project. jay ( former owner of 28' cig that I tried many different combinations.)
