My friends Kev and Fish have this Mirage, a replica of the race boat Wolverine. With stock staggered big blocks she runs 79 to 80 all day, they said stay with twins. You made the right choice, twin small blocks will run great.

That replica Wolverine boat looks very clean, I'll tell you those hulls do have some resin weight too them, it's how there built to cut through the big stuff.

Last seen at Millers marina in the rack storage, may still be there. I have the guy's at Emerald City [Ground Zero for race boats back then] looking for pic's, I will add that to the list.

29 Mirage SS

I'm a new member here and can't get enough of this site. I have a '77 Mirage which I got a a siezure from a guy in Port St. Lucy. It was partially redone on a shoestring and had Merc 400's with TRS when I got it. One was a tired junk yard dog. No interior, completely stripped. Ran it for the first 2 years with no bolsters. Kids came along and she sat in my garage for 10 years. Just finishing her up now.

Here's my 2 cents. The other guys are right. she a heavy 29! Can't believe she would get out of her own way with poriginal power. The tired 400 pushed her to 60 w/the drives tucked in, and I could get 70 trimmed out on good gas.

A friend professionally redid the Mercs and they should be about 525 hp now. Have no idea where she will run now, but it'll be fast enough for me and the boys.

She is a great old school boat. Takes rough water like a champ (Lake Erie) Sits pretty deep in the water with the BBs but has a short range with the 80+ gallon fuel tank and the thirsty 850 double-pumpers.

I'll upload some pics when I get a chance. Good luck in your new project. I'm sure you'll have fun.

A single and a Konrad will be A LOT easier to work on. Twin Smallblocks in a narrow boat like that will be a biotch. one of the reasons we converted the Avanti But twin smallblocks will run better.

My Mirage has twin smallblocks and trs drives and it's tight but you can still work on things.
