Could Head Hunter have been Thumper Too in 1976 ?? This 29' Magnum was raced by Jim Armington of Ohio in the 1976 Bacardi Trophy Race, and finished seventh. This story is from a July 1976 Powerboat mag, Or is is this another 29' Mag ?

Brownie , you may enjoy this article . Didn't want to reduce the resolution too much , so it would still be readable .

Great article from the 'good old days'. It makes me sad to the current state of offshore affairs. When I was APBA Offshore Commissioner and US delegate to the UIM in 67, 68, and 69, I worked REALLY hard to keep the UIM rules in line with APBA rules (or vice versa). It seems like the current groups are more interested in waxing their own rockets than having dazzling worldwide competition. Competitors and spectators came from around the world to Key West for the Worlds.

h2oboater Jim Arington did own a 28 or 29-9 according to some thing I read,he may have sold it ti Vaugn...don't know hopefully we will find out. Thanks for spending the time on looking for the article.Again don,t know exactly what year it appeared. Bud

The 29-9 is a different boat that the high sided 28,it may have gotten some of its heritage from the 29-9. Also it was sold as Donzi / Magnum per Roger Munn who drove a 29-9. Bud

h2obiter you are right on the Headhunter which was owned by Vaugh Szarka from Brecksville Ohio prior to that it probably owned by Jim Armington who finished 7th from the article you sent me. He lived in Cuyahoa Falls Ohio, which is about 10 mile away from were Vaugh lived...odds are very good..Ok now we need to find out how long Jim owned it and who he purchased it from...we are getting there.
