dont know the history but when i was in the coast guard in miami we used them to chase down drug smugglers and i can tell you one thing for sure is they will handle any sea conditions . we had them powered by twin diesels

This Tempest was for sale in the Detroit area back in the spring, sold for around 15,000.00. If you could look beyond paint job not a bad boat.

Thanks for all the info guys. Very helpful I must say. But sadly, I saw the boat on Friday and was not impressed. Its a nice boat for sure, if it hadnt been neglect for who knows how many years. The last registration on it was from 03, and the guy selling said he ran it 1.5-2 years ago. I'm no genius, but I think his math is a bit off..... The ad said it was "very clean" and of course it was not. It needed a bunch of mechanical clean up, new belts, hoses, etc.. the drives looked like hell, the interior even worse. And not to mention some cracks and peeling in the gel coat on the hull. Too bad it wasn't "very clean" or I would have bought it that day. Back to the drawing board I guess.

I remember a boat called Rare Breed. B-boat back in the day white and red I believe it was a Tempest, ran good.
