Does anyone remember a 29 Mirrage FEVER?

Looking for some pics of info on a 29 Mirrage that used to race in the 80's?

Old Ride 09-27-2007 07:50 PM

Fever is a Manta, the Mirage was named Finish Line.

MOBILEMERCMAN 09-27-2007 07:50 PM

I remember Fever but, I think it was a 28' Manta. Joe Latona owned it and Joe Sgro drove for him. It was fast, it ran merc trans, TRS, Y piped small blocks....
Jim

GoFastSonic 09-27-2007 07:59 PM

Mirage

Could also have been called Kamakazi

MOBILEMERCMAN 09-27-2007 09:04 PM

Kamakazi was a different boat. it was a Mirage ,I think a woman named Pat owned it. I also think it burned, don't know if they ever fixed it. My friend Ron ran his Velocity in A.C. that year, maybe '88? Under Kamkazi's points and number to finish thier season with them

there was/is one by me thats for sale.

MOBILEMERCMAN 09-28-2007 02:45 PM

I had fun in that boat. It seems to me Velocity splashed the 29, added a 12" notch, a pad and called it a 30.

Ok Got the boat

I bought the boat today and it runs great. Needs 1 Trans rebuilt. The guy I bought it off had some old pics when it was called Hauling Glass. I will post a pic of it latter. We will be racing it next year with OPA and were thinking about caling it Haulin Glass "again" any ideas?

MOBILEMERCMAN 09-29-2007 09:18 PM

Fun boat. I think you bought it from the guy that bought it from Eric.
Any way pretty cool. How does the dash look? Is it still center steering. Had some stout small blocks. MRD used to make there own parts for Fever when they ran those trannies. Good luck let me know if I can help in any way.
Jim

GoFastSonic 09-30-2007 04:51 PM

Haulin Glass

Boat is in great shape and yes I bought if from Adam who did get it from Eric. The dash was all redone pretty much nothing special and they left it center steering. I got it home yesterday and the motors run great. Needs one trans rebuilt. Smitty came over last night and wants us to race it in Key West. He said he can have trans ready in 2 weeks? So looks like we might be taking it down. I will post some pics in a couple of days. Thinking about naming it Hauling Glass again but not sure. Got allot of stuff to get ready for KW. If you know anyone with a spare trans or parts that would be great.

Thanks
Michael

MOBILEMERCMAN 09-30-2007 05:18 PM

Michael, sounds like fun, good luck. I saw you followed the white knuckles thread. Trans is pretty basic. Just need to get all the parts needed. Enjoy.

Tom A. 10-02-2007 02:50 AM

I ran w/ Kamikaze A-33 from 1990-94 (29' Mirage). I believe Haulin' Glass used to be that (A) boat. Pat had a B-33, also a 29' mirage called Kamikaze, previous to the A boat (86-88). That boat I believe went down to Fla. and is the one that burned to the waterline. I am tearing my house apart looking for pictures, I know I have a ton.

excalibur32 10-02-2007 07:23 AM

I have mercTrans, three in beautiful condition. pm me.

GoFastSonic 10-03-2007 08:25 PM

GoFastSonic 10-03-2007 09:58 PM

Tom A: Thanks for the info!! The person we got it from did tell us he bought it from Eric who raced it as the yellow Hauling Glass boat and gave us some pictures. He also said he belived a mother and son out of Brick owned it before Eric.

Hauling Trash 10-04-2007 05:29 PM

I thought the A-32 boat Hauling Glass owned by T. Spangenberg from Brick, was originally A-33 Kamakazi owned by Pat in south Jersey.

MOBILEMERCMAN 10-05-2007 02:05 PM

I cant say for sure but I thought Kamakazi burned in or around '89. My friend raced his boat at Trumps that year as Kamakazi. Haulin' Glass never showed any signs of fire damage.
Jim

Tom A. 10-09-2007 09:19 AM

OK let's see what I can clear up.

Haulin' - Yes I was Bulldog. I was the do whatever needs to be done guy.

Kamikaze was owned by Pat Lauer. I racer with her son Rob and his friend Don. There were multiple people in and out of the boat when I ran with them 1990-94 (A-33). (That 29' Mirage became Haulin' Glass.) Pat didn't let her husband know that she couldn't run in the boat so we used to say she ran w/ Rob and Don, long story. Anyway, Pat lives in Barnegat and still owns a vintage 39' Cig pleasure boat called Midnight Express.
Pat's first race boat was also a 29' Mirage she raced in the late 80's. That one was sold 89ish and went to Fla. That is the boat that burned to the waterline. Haulin' Glass did not burn, however we did split the transom on that in '93 during the Point Pleasant race and almost sank it. That boat took a beating and kept coming back for more. I will try and find some pics to download.

Hauling Trash 10-09-2007 11:17 AM

Tom

Pat and Rob say Hello

Mike

GoFastSonic 10-09-2007 11:37 AM

Thanks Tom that cleared up a lot...it is neat to know the history of the boat we bought!!

We now own the old Hauling Glass boat and she will be making a come back in OPA and looks like we will be calling her Whoz Your Daddy!! She is all white right now, so would be neat to see what she looked like before she was the yellow Hauling Glass boat.

We got the boat from the guy that bought the boat from Eric who called it Hauling Glass.

If you find any pictures it would be great it see them!! If you wouldn't mind e-mailing them to me my address is [email protected].

Thanks Doris & Michael

Haulin Trash

If you talk to Rob ask him if he still has a couple of Transmisions for that boat. My buddy Smitty said he thought he might?

Hauling Trash 10-09-2007 09:50 PM

Mike

Rob told me that still has some parts to that boat.
