Oh no! Bad news! I adored that boat - towed it across the US in 1984 for the race out of Marina del Rey. Motors back then were built by Cruise Master Marine out of Lauderdale - staff there included Dick Schwartz, Greg Basnett and Mike Thomas.

What about the Bonner Jaguar engines?

Spergil took what was a championship winning boat, changed everything that made it a winning boat (because he or those around him knew everything) and nearly never won a race with it.

I think he won one race with the boat that had just dominated the series. Shameful.

Yes Marco. A long time ago! But it's more like cleaning than 'managing'! Richie will remember scenes like this (except on a different boat!)
Rik you're completely right - this pic was sent to me years ago - the ill-fated Bonner installation. Should have stuck with the big V8's I guess! Bonner's cheaper maybe?? Perhaps someone reading this can put us right...........(will try and post a bigger copy of this pic later)
