ok, a wild guess,a poor man's attempt to heat the cockpit while idling on a cold day?(plus reap the benefits of carbon dioxide)

Maby part of a longer assembly that was removed and cut off at an angle! Looks like the guy worked with aluminum seeing other peices in one pic that are cut the same. Boat pole or antenna holder.

I,m not sure if the rear seat box has been altered from original but it appears this aluminum thing only extends under the seat frame but it is not open to the cockpit floor/area. it buts up against the wood at the face of the rear seat box. whatever it is for was on the bilge side of it.

What we figured out is he spent an inordinate amount of time looking at that piece of aluminum and not nearly enough time sanding. Now he's headed to Vegas.

That's OK Dave, I didn't really want to go boating this summer.
