This was my red 1977 Mirage I had. And the white 1979 Mirage is the one I have today.

I hate to sound ignorant, but I don't see a lot of difference between a mirage and a scarab s-type. Am I wrong? Great looking boats.

They both copied the 28' Cigarette SS

GoFastSonic 05-23-2008 03:59 PM

almost same hull

lucky strike 05-23-2008 04:52 PM

The Mirage had alot more freeboard than the 28 Cigarette SS

The capability of the Mirage hull was the same as a Cig, but the feel was different. I went from a Magnum [no cockpit liner to deck & low freeboard] to a Mirage that had a cockpit liner & higher freeboard. As Wally Harper [LI'L SMIDGEN] did the same thing and told me the same story when he bought a Mirage from Pete Smith [WOLVERINE] to replace his Mag. Wally just never got use to it, it took me at lest one season to get the feel for it. Now I can say the Mirage has the best of both worlds great hull with a big cockpit & sunpad.

Toasty... You could try Gary Hartman B&G Marine. 732-920-6477. His is in Point Pleasant @ Arnold's Yacht Basin. He has built all the engines for Rolling Thunder and engines for a lot of racers throughout the years, including Buckshot. Great Adventure has had a number of B&G's in her. His track record speaks for it self.

Great Luck, thank you... I am in dire need to get this boat back together. the next main question is weather stainless marine headers and tail pipes will hold up under my throttle wrist??? maybe CMI ?? have any suggestions?

Stormrider 05-26-2008 06:48 PM

SM over CMI for durability.

TOASTY 05-26-2008 08:38 PM

really, and i will prob save money
how do they work with big inch small blocks brownie said he would get back to me but never did...this is good news love saving $$ for gas

No spent all day getting the carbs right. Had a small problem with the wrong gasket and my friend who did them did not want to listen to me. Took us 3 times on and off before he looked at the main body gasket and saw the idle circuit closed off. LOL new pugs tomorrow and some WOT testing to make sure all is ok

DareDevil 05-26-2008 09:39 PM

Let me know how that works for you ,please.:cool-smiley-011:

Oh and make me an offer on those TRS, cant see them nomore!!!!!

When talking about Mirage's you can't forget these two. Pete Smith [WOLVERINE] had two Mirages, the back up one will be on display at the Lake St Clair reunion June 14.

Mange 06-03-2008 01:49 PM

Look's more like a Mirage
