This is Majic that was racing in the National A class in Australia. Was built in the early 70's and was racing till about 3 years ago.
This was taken at the Newcastle race with Alex Watson and myself.
You will note a white stripe under the hull near the name. This is where we had installed 'speed rails'. One came off in a 180 corner and we proceeded to do a 360. We didn't realize at the time, but as it came off it took the glass with it and we could see the fishes....
And this was in a real ocean race

The deck is being chopped to make more usable room and it will be our play boat this summer. The ballast tank and all else stays.
The best we got with the Merc 2.5 was 75mph. Not bad for an early 70's boat. It was enough to be reasonably competitive with everyone except Thycon.
The chine walk on this thing is SCARY.
