Good luck Marco! I think you have just about all of mine and Graham's libraries! I will check though. Also - a friend of mine in the UK called John Ives may be viewing this and lurking - come on John! I believe you have pics from this era that should include one or two of said boats.........! Don't be shy now.........

First of all thanks to all for the collaboration.
-flying fish: I could not hold under frustration Doc, therefore I have resigned to insert me in the hot darkened room and to loosen the complicated skein of that damned cats CUV.
The problem for me is that I have a scarce information on the events after 1993 especially those in Usa, because the Italian magazines were totally disinterested. Then I must submit me to your list and that that is said here and there online.
In fact someone on an old thread on OSO he had said that Endangered Species was the former Dirty Laundry 42'. I have thought that perhaps existed two versions of Endangered Species;a Cougar and an imaginary CUVs . But continuous to see only photo of a Cougar that you tell me was the former Supercat.
-c12 According to the list of flying fish Heavy Metal was the original version then became Gifford and Bandit.
The three boats are very similar among them therefore any opposition to this.
-Littlenige: Thanks for the 3/4 front of the Ohio. After that from the back it complete a exhaustive view of that boat version.
- Olli: very interesting the pic of Yanmar. I think that even flying fish didn't know the existence of it considering that it doesn't appear in its list.
Do you know to tell me something about Yanmar?
I also look for images of the following European CUV cat. Do you have something?

-Team France 45' CUV year 2001

Thanks to alls again!

Marco

P.S. I don't dare to think to a damned list of cats Douglas!

Black Tornado 08-10-2008 05:09 AM

Do I think that as former Endangered Species, Sea Escape is a Cougar but someone has images of it?

-#37/34 - Sea Escape - Clay Wilson-Errol Lanier - 1997-98.

Black Tornado 08-10-2008 05:53 AM

flying fish,
in your list appear a British 38' CUV Reebok International #30 for Robin Culpan in 1990 at CTC and Guernsey but no pics are in your sections on Boatmad.....

The boat was built for a Japanese team in '92 I think to compete in their "Off Open" class. It is 13.30m x 3.61m, propelled by 4 x 600hp Yanmars. If i remember it correctly the boat primarily was a testbed for those Yanmar engines (E80A 1) that were the prototypes for Yanmar's high-performance pleasure boat engines.
One of the team members was a famous Japanese F1 cirquit driver, not sure whether it was Sugihara or Ishikawa.

SEA ECAPE,TEAM FRANCE & SARATOGA (not shown) are in the Magazine Album on Boatmad Marco.Saratoga was also called Reebok. The Yanmar boat is a Codecasa hull and was ex- SDA (1990/91) of E.Polli.

Saratoga

This is the boat that came to UK for CTC etc.
Sea Escape was ex-Spirit of Numanca,ex-Dirty Laundry of 90/91.

Black Tornado 08-10-2008 03:16 PM

When in these days I have checked on Magazines Photos I have not seen Team France.
Sea Escape had it but it was lost among the other photos and only after I wrote on OSO I re-found it.
Reebok I had the strong suspicion that was the ex Saratoga but I wanted a confirmation.
Yanmar being the first SDA built by Codecasa for CUV I believe also goes to list CUV.
But where would it have raced? In Japan?

at least Atami '93. I have a short portrait of that team on tape (from Japanese TV) in which they show pictures of that boat in the building process and Sugihara explaines but unfortunately my japanese is very, very elementary:rolleyes:. I have an info sheet from Yanmar Europe somewhere. Will try to find it.

Do you think it was a new boat expecially built for the Jap or the former SDA according to Graham?

James 08-11-2008 05:37 AM

I'll send some pics in, we had a 38' cougar that was Dirty laundry and was changed to Riveted, 1996 Open class SBI Champion, Boat went to Texas and became a pleasure boat. also had 42' CUV, started life as Ohio Steel then was Riveted and in 2001 went to Maryland to become a pleasure boat. I 'll post some pics

Black Tornado 08-11-2008 05:59 AM

Many Thanks James!
I'm waiting for!

flying fish is the expert but yes, I think that it was built especially for Yanmar marine

littlenige 08-11-2008 06:50 AM

James is this the old cougar you refer to? (for sale in Texas) - although this is a 40'.

http://www.offshoreonlyclassifieds.c...o23499-en.html

James 08-11-2008 11:06 AM

Littlenige - this could be the boat - but he has done a lot of work on the boat & trailer - We ran the boat with KE engines 900 's to get trohpy's - this boat is all shinned up to get trophy's in bikini's -

James

flying fish 08-11-2008 01:05 PM

Yanmar Boat

Trawling through the fish files,a reference was made to the boat being ex-SDA,but on looking in a CUV 25th anniverary booklet it makes reference to the said craft as being M.Peters design in 1992,and SDA was P.Birkett designed. Both boats have same dimensions.Another red herring for the devotees to contend with. Also using the Inspector Marco`s patented magnifying glass ,it would appear there are dfferences in the aft end and gunwale detail, although it could have been modified but I doubt it.So lie easy in your bed tonight Inspector,Post 18 looks correct.

Black Tornado 08-11-2008 06:35 PM

Approved and filed!
By now you also know how to use you my lenses Doc and that particulars that you have also noticed they made me perplexed. Also because in 1993 I believe that that aircraft carrier still belonged to the fleet of Polli.
This lengthens the list of the cats built from and on behalf of CUV to 24 certain.
Today I have started to see the fruits of the hard job in darkened room.
To days it will be ready the complete list at least to the 80%.
Now I go to sleep dreaming CUV from 36' ,38' ,40' ,42.'........a nightmare.

Fish, are you saying the the Yanmar boat was the Motor Moderni Aloni powered monster (can't quite make out from the Yanmar pic if it is the smaller SDA cat or the quad cat).??

flying fish 09-06-2008 06:55 AM

Yanmar Boat

The Yanmar boat was a new boat, not the SDA one.I had a reference saying it was the old SDA,but my CUV booklet now I have had another look ,does say it was a new Peters design,so rest easy Nige. It`s a full time job this historical delving lark.I see John came up trumps with Ohio Steel,so where`s the other 300 pics, assuming your the sidekick scannerman.

matador 09-11-2008 01:35 AM
