Default Merc II TRS Shift Linkage Conversion

So the Electric worm gear Motor that shifts the Merc II into Forward, Revers and Neutral Died on me today. The metal contacts in its switch housing got all mashed together and were shorting out.

My friend John told me that they used to make a conversion so you could use an actual shift cable and get rid of all the electric BS.

Does anyone know where to get one of these conversions and or if anyone still makes them?

Thanks,
Matt

Is it a TRS? The control shifts the transmission? Yes there was a kit. If it is a 215 E with electric shift to the unit not a transmission I think not.

I have the old parts I can look if no one else answers.

------I think I have one original conversion and one made by someone as well. I also have two Merc electric shift transmissions in good shape (both shifted well when removed form the fresh water boat) for sale for a nickel apiece......Bill S

Yes .. The Motor Assembly shifts the Transmision on mine. I just want to eliminate the motor assembly and use a manual cable to shift the transmission.

The Transmision seems fine so I really dont want to replace the whole thing, but I'll keep that in mind if I have problems down the road.

I'll give them a call tommorow. Hopefully they're not to expensive. If so I'll be looking for a used one.
