Default External Hydraulic Steering Full and Add-On's ..

What's everyone running on their Classics? And for those of you in the process or your restoration, what are you going to run?

Wow ... Getting people to talk on these forums is like pulling teeth. 13 people read this thread but no one responds. I guess no one runs external steering on there Classic Boats.

I guess I'll be the first one.

All you lurkers should actually buck up and put your 2 Cents in, Its ok, your computer keyboard won't bite .. I promise you that.

If your that worried about something happening, just start out slow. Hit quick reply and type the letter H I . Then you'll see nothing will happen except maybe someone saying "hi" back.

On my classic Cobra it has Hynautic power steering, with the cylinder mounted inside the transome. [real old school] The Hynautic set up works good for this boat, but the best would be a full power steering with a engine mounted pump. It's all about $$$$$ and application. Im still trying to get a better pic of the Cobra logo, have you found one yet ??

You are definatly right about it being "All about the Money" I keep watching ebay for a Latham, Marine Machine or Imco Setup for a TRS but havnt found any yet. What other good brands are out there?

I have yet to find a good logo either.

I found 2 Marine Machine cylinders with clevis's on e-bay for $600, bought a Hynautic 2.4ci closed helm pump from e-bay $185, I made 2 TRS wingplates and transom mounts at work, bought 2-25' and 4-3' 3000 psi hoses and fittings from the from the hydraulic shop that my work uses $58.
Kinda homemade

these were just on e-bay

Very Nice! Homemade can be just as good if not way better than some oem stuff. Yeah, I saw those wingplates on Ebay too .. I only have one drive so I just need one and stainless would be nice too.
