30 Signature
I'm considering one of these for a project boat. Hull and cockpit sole are dry. Boat has no power, but is set up for twin outboards with a bracket. Anyone know this hull or have any opinions on it?
Thanks |
The signatures were great boats and pretty quick too. One of the most famous race boats was Peter Meyer's "Lady L" I want to say that they were 28's & 32's though as well as a 38'. I believe the early Hustlers were VERY similar as well......

27 and 38(maybe 39) were the sizes that I know they made. My Dad's crew chief/throttleman had a 38 and it was a total dog and handled like crap. I heard the 27 was a bit better.

Eric, from what I remember, they were a pretty standardized 24 degree deadrise deep V and layed up heavy..which was the "thinking" at the time. I believe the original owner/designer was Tom Adams (who is long gone dead). They were built during the "Miami Vice" drug era days when Apache was king. They were easy to recognize due to the unique rounded design on each side of the engine area. Cool boat back in the day.

Measured today, it's actually a 28 with a Stainless Marine bracket for twin outboards. Rumor is that someone in Maine actually bought the molds and supposedly this one was built up here. It's a little rough, but solid.

You could find your self a good pair of used outboards on www.Screamandfly.com

You might call Pepe at Pantera his son used to race one. If its the boat I think it is the 38 had a 27* hull. Had some likerature on them from somewere but think its on my old computer long gone.
