High Life- I think we all have done the would-a should-a over the years.I have always liked the purpose built race boats of the 70s. Richie didn't know execution expres, but I did not know to ask about gypsy man.A little puzzled with #2s on a m- boat? Must have run pretty well with good sbc !!!

High Life, do you have a pic or two of m39 as gypsy man you might share? Thanks

HIGH LIFE 02-27-2011 11:08 AM

I went on the SUTPHEN site, racing section, lists all the race boats built. Zeller one, You should have asked Richie about GYPSY MAN, this was the original name. Also lists it on the web site. "HIGH LIFE"

Why does the one poster think she had a dry sump system... in that era.. the oil reserve tanks were popular but dry sump in Modified class was illegal. Also, could this be Crystal Gershner's old boat? (Magic Gems?) The one Bob Lathem had for ever.

Last I had seen "Magic Gems" was in the South
Florida area. Also M.G. was a full stagger set-up,
were as E.E. was a side by side.

The only other 80's side by side boat that I remember was "Bad Company" M-16. That boat had been painted white and was sold by Pete Packovitch around 3 yrs ago... It had side by side scoops on the hatch also... one of my fav. boats. The boat sold by the way, turn key for around 24k.

MidOcean 03-23-2011 05:38 PM

Wait... wasn't Tim Sheehan's "Busch" a side by side?

Based upon this most recent photo from a member sighting
(sixmassive) it looks like the occupance are sitting way to forward for a boat that had the long dash in Her. Looks to me that they cut out most of that area to incorporate two front bolsters, check out the pic....................
http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...sightings.html
Also, there were more side by side race 30's out there and the only staggered 30's I'm aware of were Inferno (818181) and Magic Gems . Here's the list the members had generated.
30 Sutphen Offshore Pace
1. Inferno/ Outrageous /Spystuff
2. Great Adventure
3. All Risk
4. Nick the Greek / Magical / Magic J / 911 / Toasty (all same boat)
5. Flap jack
6. Caliente
7. Execution Express / Gypsey
8. Magic Gems (all white)
9. Surface Grinder ( orange)
10. BUSH
11. Dollar Bill
12. Endless Flight
13. Big Shot / Rolling Thunder
14. Intimidater/ Picadilly Filly
15. Fish Peddler

The only boat I'm not sure on is the original "Great Adventure"
An awesome boat IMHO .....
Ciao,
C.B.

I have some pics with dry sump tanks stiil there! I don't know if there was a rule change along the way from early80s, but not much fits M . Evidently BBC s , #2ss m,also didn't fit M. ,boat has the factory staggered deck like inferno but never rigged for staggers. Maybe last owner made the changes .doesn't make a lot of sence to put a taller drive in same trs cutouts ??
