32 Sutphen "Execution Express M-39"

Ran across this boat in my travels today. 1980 32' Sutphen. The boat is at Independent Marine in Moultonboro, NH. The boat is real solid, with fresh 3 man bolsters, no power, but it does have drives...I think Speedmaster 2's? I believe it was only raced a few times. The guy to talk to is Jon.

wow thats a lot money, I am looking at a few this fall to complete one stripped. man with the drives which need to be changed no new parts for them crash boxes pain, so your buying the hull and need konrads and a pair sm blocks =30,000 plus boat. I know a guy bought a 87 cafe for less than that with motors that need a check up for sitting for a while. theres deals out thee but thats not one.

Friend of mine owned this boat for 10+ years, told me he bought it out of FLA. He was going to make me a deal on it a few years back but I wanted something turn key. He kept the boat next to his house and when I looked at it he wiped a rag across the bottom and it looked brand new. I thought it had Speedy II's, 3 man bolster, full race. He now runs a 44' MTI with an enclosed cockpit and twin turbines:eek:

----Im not throwing stones, but since the 21 DONZI listed at this dealer is also way overpriced, it almost seems as though the dealer is the one holding the price up. Not the owners. I hope thats not the case because we all know that if you want to sell a boat today ya gotta be realistic........Bill S

Remember it's not so much what you pay for a project ...It's what you have to spend on it to make it the way you want.

It's like restoring an old car, your better off buying one that's finished & ready to enjoy. Plus it's much cheaper for a turn key item

TOASTY 02-23-2011 03:54 PM

I hope they get what they are asking for it. There are many so called enthusiasts on this board and others who just want to purchase a historic race boat, etc only to "flip it" Sutphens are like fine wine, you need to let them be and enjoy them, only then will you be lucky enough to observe their value surpass your meager and parsimonious expectations. All the best, it looks like a prime boat if one had the desire to resurrect something special.

Baja555 02-23-2011 04:14 PM

Is your Sutphen going to be ready Christian?

Just ask me how much a "PROJECT" cost, But like I always said, They don't make anymore!! Once there gone there GONE!!

30ctsutphen 02-23-2011 11:02 PM

Yeah definatley too high for whats there, you know how a re do will nickel and dime you to death.

By the time your done you could have just bought great adventure and been done ,saved cash and been out enjoying your boat for the year you need to put into execution express.

Zeller one 02-24-2011 07:49 AM

You would have 60-80 k in a race boat with little or no history, not good math!!!

If anyone wants more info re : the original GYPSY MAN , you can PM me to get in touch with the former owner. Michael "HIGH LIFE"

30ctsutphen 02-24-2011 06:39 PM

The nice thing about a resto is you have exactly what you want when your done. That and you have abasiclaly new boat. You can also end up with all the headaches new boat bugs can bring with them and unless your prepared to SORT OUT a boat it can be annoying.

Both ways have there merits and I love the execution express' looks and paint scheme, but personally Id want to see it sell for allot less if I was the buyer.

It is IMO one of the nicest looking race boats out there, If you look I made post about a bertram in Mercurys video last week and it looks just like execution exp.

The Brothers Tim & John Sheehan still own Her !!!
The Sutphen sits in the family BARN since its last
victory in the early 80's Key West. Between their
Dad and them they have a very extensive collection
of cool cars and boats . But they are not interested
in selling anything , I tryed my bestest... LOL

Just a thought!!! Did that boat have cleveland fords in it? Nice sutphan,to bad they don't polish it up and bring it out!

30ctsutphen 02-25-2011 08:17 AM

Yeah why not run it once in a blue moon. It would be col to see the old ride out again.

HIGH LIFE 02-25-2011 04:13 PM

Zeller one, Boat had big inch SBC , no dry sumps, and #2 drives. "HIGH LIFE"

Zeller one 02-25-2011 05:20 PM

High life, the last motors out of boat were 454 s,and what appear to be sump tanks still in boat.however I'm sure you are better acquainted with it than I .thanks for info.

HIGH LIFE 02-26-2011 12:22 PM

Zeller one, Must have been re-rigged. Originally had SBC motors. After buying many boats over the years I should have purchased the "GYPSY MAN" from the original owner... who would have thought !!! "HIGH LIFE"

30ctsutphen 02-26-2011 12:24 PM

Yeah did look like dry sump tanks in the boat. I wonder is Richie sutphen knows any more about it?

You could always give him or Chris a call. They would tell you anything they could about it.

The sutphens are all Good people.
