My broker sold it using an ad he put together on Yachtworld.com his plan was to go after a buyer who could benefit from the weak dollar vs euro.

The answer is damn few- about 17 hulls built.
They were basically built for race teams. Sold bare hull only back in the early to mid 70's.

Look up Copper kettle, Needle Nose, Natual Light all ran these boats.
It was the hayday of the Vhulls = Cats were few.....Cigarettes Scarabs and Bertrams were the mainstays.....

Don Onken ran a 38 as well (Mr. Goodwrench) back in the '90's. My dad did some fiberglass repairs to the boat back in the day.
