Beep Beep 38 Coyote

Hello all,
Its been some time since I've posted and unfortunetly this post comes at no pleasure.

Due to some unforseen circumstances we will need to put Beep Beep up for sale. I know the market conditions are extremely unfavorable at the moment but I was hoping someone maybe able to shed some light as to what a fair asking price would be for a boat of this kind?

Currently the boat has been pretty much completly redone built in 1984 and rigged with twin 2005 496 ho's (around 100 hrs, speedmasters #3's, new gafrig guages, new paint scheme (all white with two blue striped), new batteries, and a Continental trailer.

Your help with an idea would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
JC

Post some photos. This will help in the evaluation of price.

Joel Halpern's sons Jon and Jason both were into fast boats a while back.....you might want to google them and try to reach out and see if they want one of their father's old boats. You just never know.....

Fast Shafts 09-29-2009 07:16 PM

Is this boat the original 38 raceboat Beep Beep?? You have it listed as a Coyote, but Joel's boat was a Cobra?? Explanation please. Thanks

Thats complicated, I'd guess Charlie From HORBA Knows best, but there was Both, A Cobra, A Coyote, and one of the two actually said both on it.

search is your friend...ya lazy bastads...:D
http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...-upgrades.html

i found more info searchin coyote's.

Fast Shafts 09-29-2009 08:43 PM

Thanks for the link Storm, I guess this boat is NOT the original race boat.

Stormrider 09-30-2009 08:17 AM

38ft 3man/no cabin(?) no history raceboat w/ 496s + 3s.

Any guesses where to start the asking?
Help a member out.

I'll start...
Daddy Cool is/was avail. Bought for 25k? Add 496s and your at 45k. And that was just redone w/ solid race history.

Stormrider 09-30-2009 08:20 AM

Or see where the bidding on this ends up for a baseline.

Cigster 09-30-2009 11:22 AM

Ah - not one of the originals...forget my last suggestion then. In this market you'd be lucky to see $30K. As sad as it is, it might be worth more sold in pieces.

Daddy cool is still for sale , currently no motors but power is available. Also has a nice aluminum trailer and new covers. I think they wanted like 28,000. for it.239-633-8228.

Stormrider 10-04-2009 08:42 AM

NS, is that w/ drives, and fully rigged? just less power?

Pfftt ( spitting my coffee)

DITTO............???

northernoffshore 10-04-2009 11:31 AM

I looked at the boat again last week and it's fully rigged with the newly refurbished patterson headers . Motor mounts driveshafts etc. etc. It is in very good cond. and if they would take my trade(my disasembled contender) I would buy it. I have driven the boat before and it's fast for a cig 35'. They used the engines for the 38' scarab (crazy Greek) because the owner likes scarabs. All of the decals have been removed and it's all white. I climbed in and out of it and didn't see anything wrong other than it needed a new owner and a wash. The trailer was like new and better than the steel original one because you can launch it at a ramp instead of needing a crane to lift it off. The trailer alone is probably worth 5-6000.00. If I still lived up north on lake mich. ,it would be mine. I personally have a new pair of 540's 650hp. that would go nice in the boat and would consider selling those to the new owner at deal. jay.

Hello all,

My apologies for not getting back. I can't beleive its been over a year. I had no idea there were so many replys to my first thread. To be honest I have been extremnely busy with starting a 2nd company and my first child who will be 2 this March!
To confirm a few things first we are now finally going to list Beep Beep. I have no idea where to start. Your help to price her out would be greatly appreciated.
She is one amazing boat and cuts through the waves like a knife.
to recap: she is a 1984 38' Coyote SE redone in 2003 with new twin 496 SHO 8.1L w/#3 speedmasters, new Gaffrig guages, new dash, new upholstery, New paint, New Batteries, Like New Continental trailor with less then 200 miles on it, She has 4x70 and 2 x 50 Gallon fuel tanks.
Here is a short video I took last weekend in front of my warehouse.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBHx92_YXR4
your help is greatly appreciated as I would like to find her a great home. Someone who knows the history and will take pride in taking care of her.

Cheers!

Is this the Ole', Beep Beep ? Charlie's design / Banana hull?
J.C. Simon's deck? Don't look like it.

Your first post called the hull a 1982 model. Your last post called it a 1984 model. Which is it?

By the way, Joel Halpern, the racer who campaigned "Beep Beep", died in 1981.

Paradox- I actually got the straight up facts from the man himself.
[Top Banana ]
"Beep Beep....your boat comes from my 38 foot mold...the first boats made were banana boats. I hired JC Simon to design an Open class race boat for me.

I built the 38 and the 34 out of the same mold and sold them as banana boats. JC Simon later used the same mold and built Coyotes .....but the mold was eventually sold to Sonic....they added a swim platform on the back and that is now their 42 footer."

Thanks
JC

Tx2- My apologies. She was completed in 1984 and titled so.
Sometimes I get confused bc she was started in 1982.

I will try to edit the original post. thanks for noticing.

Here is a photo of the dash. Notice J.C Simon's signature on the right hand side. Sorry my camera doesnt do much justice for the dash as its a very clean shiny metalic blue.
Cheers

I built all the hulls for Mr. Joel Halpern at the length of 38 feet. They were named MSV/Cobra 38' race hulls and the underside had three running strakes. All of Mr. Halpern's Cobras were named Beepbeep. Mr. Simon had nothing to do with these hulls. Mr. Halpern used the Italian deck design ontop of these 38' hulls. I also made him some pleasure hulls at 38 foot. Same bottom, same deck. All called MSV/Cobra 38's in the early 1980's.

thats the hull at 44' in nj. i built the first 38' hull from my 44' mold after that race in nj. this was tortuga 2 in white , the next four 38 hulls i sold to joel halpern for his cobra project ,JOEL PAID ME DIRECT bill swain was his project manager. he came down from ny to run his race team,he was ex foot ball player. any other molds that were pulled from my hulls or copies out there were done without permission from myself or bob. i still have this mold and at this time i am building a new model in 44' x11' 6" GOV. After Jon Varese died I sold the 44' and the 38' Tortuga number 2 and gave the money to his family. I think the boats are in the Bahamas.

that boat feathered , i think this is something built at mr bananna s shop. this is not an original msv/cobra 38. i moved to europe 1983, in my absence i think some copies were taken some of my hulls. these were done with out my permission or bob s .i also thought the name beep beep was property of mr halpern. sonny miller
