Hopefully he caught it in time. That why I like to put a Oberg oil filter in line, you can find things out before it's to late. Spark, I seem to remember that Jim

actually right before the boat was put in storage the drive was gone thru so hopefully it is

Well looks like it will be at least a new Distributor and a new Cam hopefully the Crank bearings are ok

Is it smart to run the bronze gear in a marine app. to save the cam, or is there some problem with that?

It is a good idea,Performance boat motors usually get torn down often, It's good insurance to put a new one each time or every other time.

Well new cam is going in and the motor is going back in then I will start looking for new distributor and looking for a pair of clean 400-500CFM dual quads
