My dad told me everyone laughed at him for racing this "pounder craft " as we called it...heheh.

that's the first production 1976 200 Johnson SeaHorse.....Dad sold it to Mullins mirage Boats and he put a t2 ON IT! Calls it the thunderChicken now...(winterhaven, Fl)

Yes I did get beaten by that boat!
That looks like the Intracoastal up around North Miami @ back in the mid 70's.
We used to race out of the Jockey Club or was it the Palm bay Club? last race I think was in spring 1977 when there was a hurricane coming into South Fla, and the race was shortened to run down to Elliot Key inside the bay, a few people got lost because of the heavy rain aqualls, there was maybe couple of hundred feet visibility, a couple of boats ran aground, I remember seeing a small helicopter going into the water because of the strong winds, a second helocopter went looking for the first helocopter and it also went down!
No more helicopters after the 2nd.

(These were small helicopters not state of the art)

Ahhhh, that was real racing and a lot of fun in South Fla!
pp.
