Nah, it was a christening bottle but the net had some holes, and the last thing I want to do is put glass shards in a boat launch. :\

Thanks! I <3 my tow rig as well. 300hp, quattro, factory recaros... total sleeper, and one of only 300 imported to USA. :)

They are great cars. I love the sleepers, too bad the RS2 never came to the US. That would be a fun one! Hope you are out enjoying that beautiful boat of yours today.

Congrats on finally getting her wet. It's always a huge relief when all goes well on the maiden voyage. The boat really is beautiful, and to see it saved , and returned to it's glory is just too cool. Hope you get to enjoy it a ton over the summer.

Darrell.

However, the shift cutout lever NEVER MOVES, and NEVER ACTIVATES the switch. Why? I am pretty mechanically inclined but i do not understand why or how this is supposed to work. The boat shifts into gear fine, but the cutout lever and switch are doing nothing whatsoever.

its a very important part of shifting an Alpha drive. I would be surprised if it shifted without it. They work by momentarily stalling the engine taking pressure off the gear set allowing it to dis engage. They will go into gear without it but not out of gear and sometimes the movment is subtle, in other words if you are watching the bracket while shifting into gear you probably wont see any movent. The way the system works is the cables jacket is allowed to float that swivel that the switch is on. As you pull the drive out of gear tension is created in the cable by the drive not wanting to come out of gear and the bracket starts to move. As this happens the micro switch trips the ignition off, the engine stalls for a brief second allowing the drive to shift out as well as releasing the tension on the cable, at that point the system goes back to the mark position and the ignition is restored. They work pretty well, I have had a few boats with Alphas and have found that as well as proper adjustment the cables and bracket need to be kept lubed and feeely moving.

The boat looks great!

So my trim cylinders leaked a little bit, and I ran out of oil, but didn't know it. Now my trim pump sounds awful. I put new oil in it, but it still won't raise anything. Is it junk?

Ideas?
