AWESOME! Congrats dude, that is going to be a BIG project, but it'll be worth it! I put in hundreds of hours restoring my sleek, and it was SO worth it. I get comments and gawkers wherever I go, while the people who blew $60-70k on a wakeboard boat don't even get noticed. IT WILL KICK ASS.

Can't comment on this one, but my 81 Shadow had a balsa transom. I'd be sure to check all the balsa in that boat...mine was balsa cored and WET...You may want to put it on a scale...

hey!
does anyone know what one of these boats runs with twin merc efi 250s on it? i just bought one that i will be building just like this one! my hull is in great shape so i will only need rigging and interior. keep us posted on your progress!!! |
Haven't done much because of the heat... Well that and my usual job kinda gets in the way. Today I went out and started grinding a few sections near the area where someone cut into the core with a saw. Wood is rotten/soaked in the surrounding areas. This prompted me to cut a 2 x 2 square from the other sponson an the wood couldn't have been any drier. So I'm not sure what to do. Should I keep cutting/cutting holes or just recore from the spray rail to the top of the tunnel? Either way I'm in for a chitty week.

I have used 1 once. It has a needle with percentages on it. If it's in the green (less than 17%?) it's good to go. The meter I used was made to go through fiberglass .
