Took it to a Mercury facility and when they ran the engine numbers, they found the motor was pulled from a totaled 1981Impala, and had never been rebuilt, completely stock automotive version. When I aproached Jim, he denided any knowledge of the facts and while i was there, an older gentleman came in and stated Jim had sold his son a piece of S*it and wanted him to step outside. Jim wouldn't and the guy pulled a gun. Jim was out the back door and GONE! Never got any compensation from Jim, but had the engine rebuilt and enjoyed it for a few years. IF IT"S A KLYM JEM--BEWARE!!! A sucker back then!
You engine most likely was out of a Impala POLICE CAR, Jim dealt with a local junk yard for used cop car engines. New carb, chrome valve covers, & a can of black spray paint, IT'S GOOD AS NEW. All this bad stuff has come back to bite him in the butt, read about his court date here last spring.

That was the idea I had in mind. I hate the idea of paying someone else to cut corners...
