Hey! That picture is from 1986 in Key West. Bob Oetringer is in the center position driving, Vance Shaf is the navigator on the starboard side and yours truly is throttling. We had Oetringer built 540s with #3 SSM.
Before Oetringer bought it it was either the "Nightwing" or another old proven race hull. We won Grand Haven that year running the Sportsman D class. I was able to show my Dad the checkered flag in his hospital room shortly before he passed.

I just remembered something else. That 1986 Grand Haven race was a perfect example of a navigator causing a win.
Before Vance Shaf became a sponsor and our navigator, we had a rookie navigator named Warren Schintzius, the owner of Marine Unlimited in Fort Lauderdale. He really did his homework and was positive about the race course.
About half-way through the race Billy Martin in "Bounty Hunter" and all of the boats ahead of us went straight when the correct direction was a right turn. Warren made Bob turn where nobody was and we were so far ahead of the pack that we were able to stop, make a quick repair and we STILL had to wait for the rest of the guys to get in!
We owe that victory to Warren with no doubt.

Really hard to say without hitting with a moisture meter. It is over-built and probably still pretty strong. I suspect that over the years she was stored outside with no cover and possibly allowed to fill-up with rain water and snow.
Have it fully checked-out before you commit. She's pretty old!
