Hopefully you'll be able to make it out. It's nice to meet the people I talk with on here... You know what "SHOWTIME" looks like. More than likely we'll be on the outside unless I can sneak in early one AM.

Mac, I ran the 23P Mirage and was able to get 42 MPH @ 4400 rpm's, not very impressive. I'm going to start experimenting with different props. I found a prop shop over in Daytona Beach. I talked with the owner and they have a prop test program to try before you buy. I may wind up going to a four blade prop. Don't know yet...

I bet a big heavy single like that 260 will end up benefitting from a 4-blade. I'm rethinking my prop as well right now. Are you breaking in the motor over 5hrs? 10? And then what's your target rpm? I really believe you'll knock the door on 50 when you're dialed in. Keep it up! Yours looks better than mine, so that should cheer you up :angry-smiley-038:

Hey mac. Yea I'd like to see 50 mph. At this time with the props I have the best so far is 42 mph @4400 rpm's. I'm hoping with the right prop I'll get closer to my goal. The 454/330 should run 4800 rpm's at WOT...

machloosy 08-24-2012 07:28 AM

I thought my 454/330 was stamped 4400-4600 now I gotta go look again :angry-smiley-038:
That bravo sucks more HP than my alpha does, but you don't have to worry about it blowing to shreds every time you are getting on plane... If I remember you have a 1.5r Bravo right? So that puts your slip #'s at 28% if you are spinning a 21P @ 4400rpm and getting 42mph. You will have 50mph if you can get your slip #'s in the 17-19% range with a 21P spinning 4600rpm which is what I'm guessing your motor will spin with a 4-blade on it. You know this already, but call Brett @ BBlades, and hit the swap shop! You're going to get there!

mac, the stock 454/330 is 4400-4600 rpm's. I believe mine will be a little higher due to being a complete roller motor. I'm running 42 mph @ 4400 rpms with a 23 Mirage on a 1.5 Bravo 1.

Today I started to mount the original/refurbished 1982 teak swim platform. Of course as soon as I had all the holes drilled it started to pour down rain, remnants of Hurricane Isaac. I'll have to finish up Thursday cause I'll be at the FD tomorrow on a 24 hour shift.

I don't know if this helps or not, but I have a 87 260 stinger which I repowered with a 496 MAG HO (425hp) with a bravo 1 X drive. I'm turning a 22 P 4 blade hydomotive prop and at 4800 rpm speed on gps is about 58mph. My old 454/330 with alpha drive (32:1) turning a 20 turbo 3 blade at 4200 rpm speed was about 50.
