I grew up in South Orange N.J. Don and his family lived there also.
Don was larger than life back then, long before he moved to FL & started with the boats.
At Kings Grant Inn during race week 1976 I think. I pulled in the dock area with my 28' Cig SS. He was standing on the deck of a 48 Bertram with Missie & I yelled up to him hey you want to go for a ride as I pulled next to the Bertram. He Jumped down on to the deck of my boat without a thought....It had to be 10-20 foot leap down. He then took the wheel & wide open we went down the Manasquan river chasing his friend Doc Magoon in his race boat. I put pics on oso a while back of that day with him. Very unique guy for sure. Thats just one of many stories.

I was contacted by the producers of "Thunder Man" about some of the content and pictures on one of my websites a few years back. They picked my brain of what little I did know and had figured out. I also pointed them to the book "Searace".
That's my only connection.
